Cockroaches and Stained Sheets
Our experience at this property was terrible. There were cockroaches and very stained sheets on the master bed. We have pictures, but VRBO guidelines prevent us from posting them. 1. We arrived to find a security gate but had no access code. Evolve couldn’t help, leaving us stranded in 92-degree heat until the owner called with the code. He wasn’t aware the property was rented, so the water was off and the property wasn’t prepared. The alarm also went off because we had no code for that either. 2. The water smelled like rotten eggs. The owner confirmed the smell via text and suggested using bottled water—information that would have been helpful before arrival. 3. Shortly after arriving, we noticed cockroaches, both alive and dead. New ones showed up and we had to kill them, too 4. The bed sheets were stained with who knows what. The owner claimed they were "fresh," but given everything else, this was questionable. We have photographic record of this as well. 5. By the time we found all of this, it was too late to pack up and find two hotel rooms nearby. The children were afraid of cockroaches in their beds, and we slept on top of the comforter. We left the next day. The intermediary property management company, Evolve, has 4 Core Standards—Clean (there were stained sheets and cockroaches), Safe (cockroaches are a known health hazard), and Ready for Guests (no one knew we were coming and the property wasn't fully ready for us), and As Advertised (questionable).
