Urban Design, Gorgeous Rural Natural Surroundings

This Hood River home for rent features the ultimate combination of urban design, environmental building and rural natural surroundings. Beautiful large wooded and open property (1.8 acres) right on Neal Creek. There are no views at Neal creek..back of home is forested views..but the creek is within walking distance. Close by is Upper Valley Laurence Lake, Lost Lake and of course the Columbia River in Hood River! Wonderful deck, central A/C, high speed internet. Furnished impeccably with modern mid-century decor. Simplicity with your every need in mind. Pictured or written up in numerous articles. Designed by Paul McKean Architecture, Portland.

The Columbia River Gorge, with its mountains and rivers, offers the vacationer and recreation enthusiast the opportunity to windsurf, mountain bike, kayak, golf, ski, hike, fish, or just relax in the unhurried pace of a natural paradise. Historic buildings line the beautifully scenic streets of downtown Hood River, with a bustling shopping district featuring boutiques, designer shops, outdoor adventure gear outfitters, antique shops, art galleries and no less than 30 restaurants.

There are many orchards and vineyards in Hood River. The Hood River Valley is known for its luscious apples, pears, cherries, peaches and other fruits, and for the view of the majestic snowcapped peak of Mt. Hood. People from all over Oregon make an annual trek in the fall to the many farm stands to stock up on fresh apples and pears. Other produce is available, and varies by season. The award-winning Hood River Vineyards is located on a hillside overlooking the Hood River Valley. Their tasting room features traditional wines, and fruit liqueurs.

The Columbia River Gorge, with its magnificent views make this a dream spot for a destination wedding.

Wind surfing capital of the world is Hood River's latest distinction. The winds from the Columbia River Gorge, best during the middle of the day, create ideal conditions for riding the waves. To enjoy the view of "boardheads" at play, drive to the Columbia Gorge Sailpark or follow Second Street to the waterfront.

The Mt. Hood region and its more than sixty miles of forested mountains, 77 waterfalls and myriad lakes and streams are a rip-roaring mecca for outdoor adventure. The mountain is home to four ski areas and offers the country's only year-round skiing and snowboarding.

We had a wonderful stay. The neighborhood is quiet and safe (Hood River Sherif live across the street). The house was well-kept. The house had some wear and tear like any rental, but it didn’t bother us. I’m giving a rating of a 5/5 stars. However if I *had to be picky* I would recommend getting new towels and sheets. They smelled like they sat in the washer for too long before drying, but that’s a pet peeve of mine. With that said, I would not mind staying here again!

Lovely getaway
The location of this residence is wonderful, great departure point to experience multiple venues in all directions. The residence itself is nicely appointed, beautiful banks of windows letting outside in. Kitchen has all you need to enjoy preparing meals. The outdoor living space is comfortable leading to a path and a bench adjacent to the creek - extremely tranquil and picturesque. The property management company needs to do a better job cleaning as both bedroom quilts were soiled. You can imagine that takes away from the overall quality of your stay. The towels and sheets seemed ok. Please replace those nasty covers for future visitors to enjoy.

Fun girls weekend
My co-workers and I celebrated a retirement with a lovely little retreat at this property. It was perfect for 4 of us to just hang out, read books, play games, and eat food together. We were planning on doing some shopping in Hood River but we ended up just wanting to stay in and relax. Such a lovely space. It felt like a treehouse! It had everything we needed for a getaway together.

Good vibes
Beautiful view of back of property from living room, house was super esthetivsllu pleasing. My kid was obsessed with the bird bingo, I enjoyed the National park puzzle (2 pieces missing Incase anyone cares). Unfortunately I couldn’t figure out for to make the speaker system work or the mini fridge in the kitchen (was room temp, power button and cool button not functioning), good thing there was an extra mini fridge in closet that was working! These issues weren’t a big enough deal for me to try and get them resolved during my stay, but it def would’ve added to the experience to have the speaker system work so we could enjoy some music or a movie!

What a COOL place!
Thank you for allowing us to stay with you! My wife and I with our three kids stayed two nights while skiing Mt Hood. Such a cute place and a great location. We loved the lifelong book collection that the owners were so willing to share with us. My want-to-read list is now a lot longer. Perfectly located between all the things we wanted to see. We are already talking about a summer trip to be back in the area. We will be picking our dates around this place being available. Thanks again!

We stayed here for a family wedding- such a great little find!! Love the ease of the layout and the efficiency of the place. The under cabin nook was awesome for morning yoga and coffee. Could use some shelves in the bedrooms but nothing else to say negative about this cool little place!!

Family friendly with a strong sense of design, but a bit worn
Happy surprises: bucolic drive from Hood River, great patio setup under house, friendly tabby that dropped by, and very hot shower water Cons: we were not notified that one of the two minifridges wasn’t working, so we juggled to fit things we’d brought and then had all our eggs in one basket when the minifridge door hit the cabinetry and stayed ajar all night (no temperature alarm). Later on, some of the berries froze at the back of the fridge. The condition of the Teflon pans was really sad, but we left behind a sauté pan we bought in Hood River - maybe you can use it! Food residue on a bunch of the cookware and silverware. Knives good for cutting mushrooms, but consider bringing your own if you’ll do serious cooking. Surprisingly large range of kitchen supplies was provided. No shoes inside, so bring house/shower slippers. A shower/toiletry caddy would be great, there’s only a 4x5” shelf in the shower and hardly any space on the sink. If you bring your own sheet for the nooks (they had polyester), I think a XL twin would fit. Tips for parents: We chose this house because it has no interior stairs. Glad our pack and play fit in the bedroom. Still think this is a really great option if you have kids. Re: safety, when the sliding doors are opened, the railing is climbable. It would be easy to install a cabinet handle loop child-proofing for the under sink (wasp killer stored there), and possibly the pots cabinet too; chair feet and felt pads are a choking hazard if your kids would stoop to eating something like that. The door chain was out of reach of our toddler, so we didn’t have to worry about an escape. Handy man items: chair feet are breaking - felt pads don’t help prevent the chrome from scraping the floor and leave the black part sticky when they fall off; reattach item on back of shower wall for more shelf space; paint bare patch by toilet; shim minifridge by sink so that the door can’t scrape on the cabinet. We really liked this home, and the design and setting made it a very memorable and lovely experience. It's what I imagine glamping is like. Probably wouldn’t choose to stay in an Arrived-managed property next time.

A lovely and stylish get-away in the Hood River area.
A very modern, yet homey, take on the 'weekend cabin'. The place sits on a quite backroad but is easy to find. With huge windows looking out on to the natural landscape and the small stream in the back. All of the living space is on the second floor which gives you a sense of a tree-top view of the property. It was a lovely stay and we would go there again in a heartbeat.

Good getaway
The house itself was perfect for our needs. The bedrooms were a good size, with a few extra beds in the hallway if you don’t want to share a bed with someone else. The creek running behind was very relaxing. There was a bit of an ant problem, which it looks like they know about since there was an ant trap in the corner. Those ants were HUGE. They ask you not to change the AC schedule so be prepared to constantly adjust it, as it is set to 80-82 degrees at some points, so we had to keep dropping it as it was 85+ outside and warmed up.

Modern cabin with outstanding forest views
My husband and I loved the place, there were some things that could use a little sprucing as a few other reviewers noted. But nothing that a little touch up paint and a little TLC couldn’t fix. Is it in perfect brand new condition- no. It is worth the experience and rate - yep, I’d go again! We saw deer one morning and a lovely cat came to the door for some morning scratches. We made excellent dinners in the fully equipped kitchen and had a fantastic time. Did I say I loved the windows? I REALLY loved the windows.

Great space, some difficulty with the heater
Wonderful house, very thoughtful layout. Great location for accessing Hood River and the mountain. We had some trouble with the central heater. It couldn't get the house above around 65 degrees. Property manager was great to bring some space heaters over at 1130 pm, but coming in from the cold and a bit wet from the days activities, it would have been nice to warm up more easily.

Hot and uncomfortable
Air conditioning did not work. Daytime temps of 85 degrees in house. Property mgr does not answer phone, respond to voicemail or respond to email. The outside space at house very ugly, yard of weeds, planters full of weeds, dusty furniture. Bathroom poor, nowhere to put anything, house needs a refresh.
