Ok 3-ish star hotel, poor and predatory service
Fairly clean hotel although our room smelt damp. When we told the hotel they told us it was because the air conditioning wasn’t on yet in the room. The smell did reduce when we turned on the air conditioning but this meant every time we got back to our room the first 10 minutes it smelt musty
Separately, I always got the feeling the hotel was trying to refer me to do things (eg activities, tours, booking a taxi, shopping through them) to get a commission.
A few examples:
1. When I arrived at the hotel they asked what I had booked. I told them I had a free walking tour and they asked if I could cancel it and I should do their paid tour instead. They also gave me a lot of pamphlets for other tours - a boat tour that was more expensive than others I found online (those had great ratings), a massage which was much more expensive than regular hammams, etc.
2. The manager asked me if I was interested in buying rugs and he insisted on bringing me to his “trusted source”. He didn’t offer to give me the address but insisted on coming with me. I suspect to get a referral fee
3. When we were leaving to the airport they offered to get a taxi when they I saw I was ordering an Uber. They said it was 1300TL but after I booked they told me the price wasn’t possible.
Overall a cleanish hotel but service was lacklustre and I felt like they were trying to get more money from me. Not a good experience. I should be able to trust my hotel to have my best interests at heart not their wallet!
