Oak House was actually closed for refurbishment and management didn't have the decency to advise me despite having made an advance reservation for the Honeymoon Suite for several months! Additionally I called before making the 2 hour journey to get confirmation of secure parking and STILL was not advised that Oak House was closed for refurbishment! I arrived at Oak House and was unable to gain entry and the telephone number on which I had earlier in that day spoken to someone was now not being answered. Eventually some domestic staff appeared from an out building and explained that the place was closed for refurbishment. I was offered alternative accommodation at Acorn Guest House approx 750m away which is said to be owned / managed by the same people. The room was sub-standard, stains in the bath, 2 single beds, huge gap under the door and felt distinctly lacking in security! No staff, security or any other guests were staying there! A stark contrast to the Honey Moon Suite pictures of Oak House which I had booked. Considering everything we left immediately and returned back to Johannesburg south which is a 2 hour drive away. Valentines weekend was ruined and the management did not answer any calls or return messages! The height of ignorance

Oak House - Cullinan-Stay for 1 night on 7Dec 2018
I arrived at the Guesthouse after 3p.m. The dinning area that I was walked through was not cleaned up from the function held there from the night before. When I arrived, they did not know which room I was booked into. Once I had told them and being taken to my room, we found out thereafter that the room was double booked. So I agreed to move to another room as I was running late. There was no electricity as there was load shedding, so no alternative power source was available. After returning to the Guesthouse late that night, the driveway gate was closed and I had to manually open and close it. There was poor lighting in this area. Got to my room and the wifi was not working. The Dstv was also offline due to a loose multiplug which I eventually sorted out. The next day at breakfast was good. The service women were very friendly and helpful. I am vegetarian and even though I documented this on the website when making the booking, this info was clearly not passed on to the staff. The room had a bath tub that needs some attention. I was not rushed to check out the room even though I had only left the room after the appropriate time. Lovely maintained vintage house and property otherwise.

PRENOTAZIONE SPARITA
DELUSIONE... prenotazione fatta direttamente da Hotel.com perchè c'erano tipologie diverse di camere. All'arrivo ci dicono che la prenotazione non c'era e dopo discussioni ci portano ad una Guest House, abbastanza lontana da lì dove avremmo duvuto fare la colazione al mattino. Ci fanno vedere una casa, carina, ma non certo quello che aspettavamo. Non accettiamo e tornamo in centro alla ricerca du un altro albergo.
