Welcome to Hale Makai, our luxury beach home located on the beautiful and sunny west side of Kaua'i. We offer a host of amenities and a picturesque location for a relaxing and unforgettable vacation experience.

Take your pick of comfortable seating in the spacious living room, on the screened lanai or on the deck in the front yard - all perfect for lounging, enjoying a good book or soaking up the island vibes. Adjacent to the living room is the gourmet kitchen, stocked with a variety of appliances and cooking utensils. Whether you are an experienced chef or just enjoy whipping up a quick meal, this kitchen has everything you need to prepare delicious meals and snacks.

Hale Makai features two spacious bedrooms. The primary suite boasts a king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom with a large walk-in shower. The other bedroom has a comfortable queen bed and ample storage space. All bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning and ceiling fans, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep. Our bathrooms are stocked with basic shampoo, conditioner, and soap for your convenience.

One of the standout features of Hale Makai is the private hot tub. Whether you want to soak in the warm water after a day of exploring the island or simply relax and take in the beautiful scenery, the hot tub is the perfect place to unwind.

Home away from home
Was really stocked with everything we needed including beach chairs, snorkel equipment, beach towels and coolers. AC and fans super helpful and the movies and hot tub were an excellent plus! The location is great if you want nice quiet area with beaches and small towns close. If you are looking for touristy things to do, this is not your vibe. Hosts were great, attentive to our needs and we had an amazing week!

Perfect beach house!
My husband and I stayed here for our ten year anniversary and spent a week relaxing on the couch or jacuzzi between our daily excursions! The kitchen was one of the best stocked rentals I’ve ever used! This helped keep meals on the cheaper side since we mostly only had to pay for lunches while we were out. We cooked everything else in the home. The fridge provided fresh filtered water and ice too! I am in love with the showers, from the stone tile to the water pressure! Traffic noise wasn’t a problem at all and the longer driveway makes it very private! The black sand beach is literally across the street and gorgeous for wave watching! We would absolutely stay again!

Liz and Chad were amazing hosts! The place was beautiful and accommodating. I could have stayed for two months instead of two weeks. We loved Kekaha and didn’t mind driving to other destinations over the island. We will be staying again!

Wonderful house for a quiet, relaxing stay!!
This house was a wonderful stay, a perfect end to our vacation in Kauai. We wish we would have stayed here the entire week vs the few days we spent on the north shore. The local food, beer, and comforts of this home were perfect. We didn't use the hot tub but we would have if we stayed longer. The beds were super comfortable, the sofa was lovely, and the fans and AC were a welcome treat after a long hike. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the spices and oils you need for cooking.

The accommodation was even better in person. A great cottage to share for traveling couples. The screened in lanai, your own backyard & hot tub were awesome. The Little Blue Cottage
The property was fantastic. My wife and I stayed for a month and had a great time. Liz and Chad were the perfect hosts. The cottage has everything you need. Perfect location if you plan on doing a lot of hiking in Waimea Canyon and Koke'e State Park. Make sure to check out Kalaheo Cafe and JP's Pizza. Go Niners!!!

House was a perfect fit for our plans to hike Waimea Canyon. House was well equipped with comfortable beds and plenty of hot water for 4 adults to shower with. Only issue we had was getting into the house because the battery on the door key pad was low and it took many tries to get door to open. Called property manager who did not answer had to call VRBO who got the property manager to call us back. This took about 20 minutes before we could get into the house. I'm sure the batteries have been replaced and this is no longer an issue. I would stay here again and hope to in the future.

We loved our stay at Hale Makai! The house was impeccably clean and exactly as pictured in the listing. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed to cook meals, and the owner even provided towels and other supplies to take the the beach. We loved having a private hot tub and screened-in lanai. The location was ideal for our trip - it is in a residential area conveniently located near Waimea Canyon and great hiking. Would definitely recommend this home!

Great Rental
We have stayed at many vacation rentals (including at least six on Kauai), and this property is very nice. It was well outfitted--the kitchen had a wide array of tools and some staples (like coffee and mustard) that are not often included. And it was immaculate. I don't recall staying at any rental that seemed as clean. For four people, it is quite comfortable (we had only two and it felt big). You can walk to the beach in five minutes. The owners were very nice to deal with. It does not have an ocean view (not that anyone said it would), but that is really the only downside we saw.

The cottage was welcoming and comfortable. Great Lanai to wake up to with a cup of coffee and end a day with a book on. Great kitchen (sharp knives), and beds! Liz and Chad were very warm and welcoming. They have everything you need for a memorable vacation on Kauai.

Awesome bungalow - great location to explore Weimea canyon
My husband, 17year-old son and I had great stay at this very well appointed, nicely furnished and spacious bungalow. You see the owners put a lot of love and attention to detail into it to make it pretty- it even has two nice murals in the living room. The lanai and screened porch were delightful (and great against the occasional mosquito). Air conditioning and numerous fans throughout the house were very welcome but AC not really needed at night. The kitchen is very well equipped and we enjoyed cooking a meal or two and using the BBQ outside. So convenient to use the washer and dryer if you’re on a longer stay! Everything was provided - even toiletries, hair driers, sun screen etc! Minor drawbacks was that the master bed is comfortable a bit squeaky and the roosters in the neighborhood starting at 3:30 am each morning- but hey it’s Kauai and we got used to them. The location is great for exploring the south west shore of Kauai, like Polihale beach, Saltpond beach park or going up to Weimea canyon. no ago early to beat the crowds and clouds. Great hikes up there!! It’s about a 35-40 min drive to Po’ipu beaches on the South shore. Shopping opportunities at nearby Waimea. Definitely recommend this property!
