Recommend for Kyoto visit
Great hotel for a first time visit to Kyoto. We didn’t know this but the hotel is within a complex of covered shopping arcades with direct access to the subway which made it super convenient to venture out to shop and eat whatever the weather. Super well connected via subway and bus to all main attractions and 15 min walk to Gion district! The only thing we were a bit surprised was the check-in experience, which was all done via a machine so it felt a bit chainy. Also this was the only hotel in our 3-week Japan trip that didn’t offer free daily water bottles. They provided 2 tiny ones the first day but if you needed more you had to pay ÿ200 per bottle which didn’t feel right (went to 7/11 instead). Other than that everything else perfect!

Love the location and Gracery is a trusted brand in Japan. Hotel right in the midst of the teramachi and minutes walk to the nishiki market. Room was spacious in Japan standard, with the bathroom having shower and bath tub area separate. (The only drawback for me is that no car can get in, so you’ll have to drag your luggage out to the main street about 3-4mins through the crowd to get a cab.)

This property is in good location as to proximity and accessibility to where I wanted to go. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Room is tight for 2 people with 2 luggages and 2 carryons. Toilet and bathroom are separated. Toilet is so enclosed that I can imagine it may be uncomfortable if the person is claustrophobic.

This was a really nicely run hotel. The breakfast was really good and the service was very friendly and efficient. The best thing about the hotel though is the very very central location, right in the heart of things.

Shower facilities are awkward without a shower directly above the bath and nowhere to hang your clothes. Also, an extra pillow or cushion so that you could sit up in bed would be helpful.

We loved staying here. The only issue was that we didn’t know we were supposed to book our breakfast ahead of time. We wanted to try the breakfast buffet on our last day. We had been traveling for 2 weeks. We were still willing to pay, yet we still got denied and weren’t allowed to dine for the buffet. Nothing else is open that early, we ended up getting food at the 7-11, but considering we were already there for 4 days, that’s didn’t seem hospitable. Sometimes people don’t know that they want to book a breakfast months in advance, but want the option to have it if we are still willing to pay. We didn’t like that. Overall, it was a pleasant stay but that minor detail alone was off putting.
