The bathroom had a bit of a smell to it, but having a washer and dryer was clutch. The room was pretty spacious and the bed was a little firm, but still comfortable. In a good location, a bit of a quieter part of town, but still a lot to see and do.

I liked this hotel as I was able to easily walk to Sanjo street where the shops/restaurants were amazing. Mainly the food spots. You can also easily go to Nishiki market if I spelt that right plus other market/streets by foot. I loved Kyoto as a city with all the cycling that takes place by adults and kids. As for the hotel, after checking in you have to go to a separate building for the rooms which I’ve never seen before so it was a bit weird and not convenient but the building is secure where you do have to use your key card to enter that building and also use it to access the area to the elevator/1st floor. So they do have safety measures. They have Sake shots for you that goes from 5:30-8 j believe. Once you get to the room, there was a luggage storage area that came in real handy so we can put them out the way. There is also a sink in the room, kettle and cooking equipment if you wanted to take advantage of that(I didn’t). One of the beds for the 3 person room was just a very small mattress if you can even call it that on the floor, but they are very accommodating and delivered a 2nd one within minutes to my room and that made it a lot better and I slept with no issues after that. The staff here are nice and the bathroom I really loved. The shower is right above your head and this made showering so relaxing. They also have a bath there if needed. The toilet was separate from the shower room so that makes things better for non solo/partner travelers.

Highly recommend for families
Highly recommend this hotel when visiting Kyoto. We were visiting Japan for the first time with our 9 month old son and the stay couldn’t have been better. Our room had a microwave and washing machine which is super convenient when travelling with kids. Room was also quite large for Japan and the free coffee was a great bonus.

We love the room, the ambiance of the hotel. But unfortunately its really hard when u beed help from front desk receptionist. You need go to main wings building and the phone wasn’t connect to receptionist. They didnt check and fill up the bath soap even we already put the sign and take iut the bottle from bathroom.

This is a truly wonderful hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful with any requests we had. Having a washer & dryer in the room was a life-saver. It was very hot during our visit requiring multiple changes of clothes daily. The location is quiet and very walkable to the subway and attractions. Highly recommend this property.

The hotel is extremely clean and well maintained. It is not exaggeration to say that Japan hotels are above average but Tokyu Stay is on another level. The amenities are plentiful and the neighbourhood is quiet and very close to the metro. The staff are professional and immediately actioned on the requests. I will stay there again if I am in Kyoto.

I’m so disappointed from the condition of the Amex building so if you want to torture someone who has allergies or ocd then take them to this hotel it’s a DIRTLAND. Room was extremely filthy and when I opened the window it was a building touching the window with no no air passage so if you are claustrophobic then welcome to hell kind of situation. I’m both allergic to dust and claustrophobic so I requested to change the room but the other room was also dirty and one cupboard door fall straight on my feet while I opened it. But the location is supereb and Nishikiomiyacho market is on walking distance other attraction are hardly 10 to 12 km away .
