Romantic Luxury on Private Lake w/Hot Tub & Amazing Views

The Hillside Cabin is an incredibly romantic luxury cabin 2 bedroom/2 bath (sleeps 5) overlooking Tumalo Lake surrounded by ponderosa pine trees, located just 12 miles west of downtown Bend. Situated on a unique 640-acre private parcel of forested land surrounded on all sides by the Deschutes National Forest, there are limitless trails for hiking, biking, x-country skiing and snowshoeing and the private lake offers free fishing, kayaking, canoeing and SUP. There is a wonderful 2-mile hike around the lake, a lakeside deck with chairs and a picnic table, a swimming dock and a lakeside fire pit (not allowed during fire season).

The Hillside Cabin is one of five luxury vacation rental homes at Tumalo Lake Lodge (tumalolakelodge). The Hillside Cabin is a high-end masterpiece of craftsmanship, constructed of huge Douglas Fir beams, cedar siding and shakes. Huge windows in every room provide a tree-house sensation with amazing views of nature in every direction. The large wrap-around deck and comfortable Adirondack chairs and rockers allow for relaxing in the fresh air while taking in the gorgeous natural surroundings and views.

The beautiful furnishings create an ambiance of casual luxury. The cabin's interior features knotty pine wood walls, doors and trim, knotty alder cabinets, and granite counter tops. The first floor open floor plan includes radiant heated floors and decorative rugs. The living area has a wood-burning stove and huge windows with lake views. The dining area has floor to ceiling windows with views of nature on all sides. The kitchen area features granite counter tops and stainless appliances including a Jenn-Air professional stove. There is a half bath on this floor.

The second floor features gorgeous high-pitched wood ceilings, two charming queen bedroom suites with private baths and a second living room area. The upstairs living area has huge windows with commanding views of the lake and a queen sofa bed. Bedrooms feature iron beds with quilts, cozy down comforters and pillows, and high thread count sheets. Each bedroom has amazing views in three directions and also has two large window seats perfect for curling up with a good book. The ensuite baths feature either a large walk-in shower or bathtub, granite counter tops, Italian tile, radiant heated floors, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion amenities and hair dryer.

There are a multitude of activities and amenities right out your door on the Tumalo Lake property. Enjoy hiking (there is a wonderful 2-mile hike around the lake and other longer ones), mountain biking, swimming, boating (complimentary kayaks, canoes, SUPs), fishing (no license required), birding, and playing cornhole and horseshoes. Relax on your private deck in a hammock or at the shared fire pit or lake deck, and stargaze from your private hot tub. While wildlife viewing from your deck, the lake deck or on the lake in your kayak/canoe you may spot ducks, blue heron, osprey, golden eagles, bald eagles as well as great horned owl, pileated woodpecker and others. In winter, snowshoe, sled, x-country ski, cozy up around your wood-burning stove or outside with s'mores at the shared fire pit.

Bend and the surrounding area are world-famous for both outdoor pursuits and pristine beauty. You can catch an art exhibit, dine at an award-winning restaurant, shop the boutiques, spoil yourself at one of our many spas, trek the legendary Bend Ale Trail, listen to live music or a enjoy a local festival. Bend makes a great spot for family-friendly fun as well, from cool snowshoe tours in some of Bend's snowy forests to watching raptors soar at the High Desert Museum.

The area is a haven for summer and winter activities including river and mountain hiking, biking, golf, river rafting, fly fishing, rock climbing, skiing, and snow shoeing. View or hike around breathtaking mountain lakes. Visit stunning national and state parks: Newberry National Volcanic Monument (a fascinating collection of volcanic landscapes, lava flows, jagged volcanic glass, rivers, lakes, caves, hot springs, waterfalls, and forests) and Smith Rock State Park (a dramatic setting with great hiking, rock climbing and wildlife viewing that has been the backdrop of many western movies). Loved every bit of this stay and were sorry we didnt book it for longer. The cabin, lake, and property are just as fabulous as they look in the photos and made for a fantastic trip. Clean and fully provisioned, we wanted for nothing more while we were there. We got in a Crater Lake day trip, and visits to Bend, OR. The cabin is nestled in the woods but just a quick drive to Bend. Absolutely considering a revisit!

Solitude and Homey
We wanted to get away for spring break and explore somewhere new for all of us. Bend is the half way for all of us as we were coming from different places. Though the cabin was still surrounded in snow and the lake frozen, we had a wonderful time relaxing and playing games in the cabin before we heard into town for adventures. Workers came to shovel snow on the walking path to the parking spaces and sweep the deck for us twice while there. The cabin and our experience was amazing. We will definitely come back during a warmer time of the year, so that we can enjoy more of the amenities this cabin has to offer.

Amazing place and great tenants
Tracy was amazing, we got stuck in bad weather on the way there and lost time for our stay but she made every effort to make our stay incredible. Place was very well stocked, extremely roomy and beautiful. Roads were as advertised, snow packed and plowed regularly. Directions and instructions were clear and correct. Will be staying there again and again.

Stunning Private Winter Wonderland
The house was beautiful- immaculate. We loved the wood burning stove and the views from every window- absolutely stunning. We loved hiking the loop around the lake and into the woods in the snow and also close to Tumalo falls- that was an amazing hike too. It was very quiet and private. Loved being off the grid and enjoying reading fireside- all the firewood we needed right on the deck. Look forward to coming back in the summer to enjoy paddle boarding on the lake!

Definitely will be a go to location. Owner communication is fantastic. If I could leave 6******’s I would!!! Thank you Tracy & Bill.

Beautiful, warm and well equiped
Our stay at the Hillside house was amazing. I'm sure it's beautiful there all year, but I must say, the snow made it especially nice. The house provided total comfort (Beds, fire stove, hot tub...), we wanted for nothing more. Would definitely consider returning, probably in the summer so we can enjoy the lake.

Waldon
After a harried summer, we longed for a quiet blended week of peace and hiking. Shortly after unpacking and sitting on the veranda looking out at the small lake I initially thought I was going into shock. There was almost no sound, just a gentle breeze in the pines and what felt like muted whispers of local birds. I was completely de-stressing. Couple that with a well appointed, lovely house and we had found what we were looking for. The sleeping at night was heavenly with windows wide open and being caressed by the cool mountain breeze. Another plus is the availability of accessing the creek trail to beautiful Tumalo Falls (must see). We found the 15 minute drive into Bend a non-issue and discovered that the world famous Sparrow Bakery and their Ocean rolls were also just 15 minutes away. Our week is finished but we will hold onto fond memories of our little visit to our Waldon Pond.

Wonderful Stay at Lake Tumalo
Very serene stay on Lake Tumalo. Cabin was very clean and well appointed. Property owners did our laundry for us! Lake had lots of trout that were catchable with local flies. Spinners and jigs had less luck. Great access to mtb trails, most don’t allow e-bikes. Tumalo Falls was very beautiful. 20 min drive to town, but quiet and solitude were worth it. Thank you so much Tracy and Bill!

Tumalo Lakefront Haven in an Amazing Cabin in the Woods
My husband surprised my daughters and myself to a 4 night trip to Tumalo Lake Lodge. We arrived and minutes after we brought our bags in, a bald eagle and an osprey fought over a fish and the bald eagle swooped in the water!! I was sold on the place right there!! We got snowed on one full day and loved going in the hot tub while it was snowing. There was plenty of things for the kids to do without TV… card games, board games, puzzles, help make fires in the fireplace, hiking and the hot tub. Having no TV was great to just be unplugged and connect to one another and nature. This cabin is one I’d like to own one day on a spot just like this! We can’t wait to come back to this cozy luxurious place!! We met both Tracy and Bill and they are such nice, down to earth people! We will be back!!

Tumalo Lake Treasure
This is truly a magical, secluded location just outside of Bend, Oregon. Me and my family had never been to the area and wanted to find a cabin that would allow us to connect in comfort while being surrounded with nature and this spot delivers. In April, there was still snow along the lake trail but we had a great hiking experience seeing bald eagles, native birds and lake ducks. We managed to catch (and release) rainbow trout despite snowfall and then warmed up in the cabin by the fire. The cabin is so cozy, had ample room for 2 couples, was very clean and kitchen was provisioned with all the cooking necessities/amenities for those who like to cook. We brought in enough food for b'fast, lunch and dinner and the refrigerator was large enough to store everything for four people over 3 days. We really appreciated the care that Tracy took to ensure we could find the cabin despite potential GPS outages. We also loved view of the lake, the warmed floors in the bathroom, the game selection, the ample firewood and the hot tub. We will definitely be back.
