What a spectacular place to stay! Highly recommended.
The house is half way up a mountain with a spectacular view. I liked to spend time sitting on the balcony outside my bedroom looking down into the valley. The view includes the Lauerzersee and Zugersee lakes with the towns, villages, roads and railways around them. Surrounding this are green hills and mountains all around (in October).
The apartment is one level of a farm house, with the owner on the other level. Two dedicated bedrooms, plus a kitchen/dining room. The shower is small with a shower curtain and located beside the washing machine in the bathroom. There is a separate toilet room. Note that Switzerland doesn’t use the regular European power plugs, different adaptors are required.
The house is on a working dairy farm with friendly cow-bell wearing cows. Such a beautiful addition to the appeal of the location. Yes, there are cow pats and the smell of cattle - but that didn’t bother us. The children also loved the friendly cats that come to the door.
There is a very narrow road (Bergstrasse) that leads up the hill from Lauerz to reach the property. Google Maps got us to the exact location with ease. There is a surprising amount of traffic using the small road and we had to go slowly and be ready to find a wide spot to pull to the side when a car came the other way. Occasionally have to reverse to allow this to happen.
There is a Nespresso machine (working, but seems to be missing part of the tray to hold the mug) and plenty of equipment for cooking. We had breakfast and evening meals at the house, because it takes a while to get up and down the mountain. The only thing we missed was a dishwasher.
Can continue up the mountain in a car, then park and walk the final part to Gottertli peak which has a 360 degree view including Lake Lucerne at an altitude of 1396m.
I can’t imagine a better place to stay in Switzerland.
