Hotel looks good, service very poor to check in, when ordering a drink young staff giggling when others made a mistake, long wait to be seen to check in, long wait to b seated for breakfast with the breakfast order completely messed up. Seems many inexperienced staff doing the service.

Ideal overnight stay for our daughter's graduation ceremony in Guildford. Lovely find, friendly staff, scenic area around the hotel. We will defo stay again sometime

Beautiful property exterior, lovely bar area and dining room. Service staff and reception were very friendly and obliging. Rooms had several areas that were under par. No air conditioning in the rooms and it was a very warm weekend. Despite asking. the hotel had no fans for the rooms. Did say they were looking into this for future. Still a good weekend.

Disaster!!
Arrived at scheduled time for check in. Was told had to wait for over an hour because room wasn't ready due to private party running over. Eventually got room. Shower only in boiling water. Broken thermostat. Given another room. This one wasn't even prepared! So, we get a 3rd room!! I had a course to go on, so got up early for breakfast and was told I'd have to wait. I only wanted porridge, so bad to leave. Not all bad though. Dinner was nice to no honest. No phones in the rooms too call front desk. And not allowed to charge incidental to the room, like most hotels!! No room service. On one occasion after the room clean, the tea cups were left on the toilet cistern. All in all, not one of the best places I've stayed at.

Really nice hotel, lovely and clean room, the beds were really comfortably only problem i can say i had with our room is that the shower door didnt close properly.unfortunately the breakfast really let this place down , i had a full vegetarian breakfast as the waiter took my order i said that i didnt want the vegetarian sausage or any meat substitute, i was interrupted by the waiter staiting that its not a meat substitute and walked off didnt give me chance to say i also didnt want mushroom. My breakfast comes it has a pathetic looking vegi sausage thing ,that im told isnt fake meat, (if i said i didnt want something, i dont want it ,not a excuse )half a plate of burnt mushroom, extremely bland i expect out of a box scrambled egg that was soggy and a pot of cheap cold beans, and 2 cook from frozen greasy hash browns that tasted like they were cooked it meat my partner had a full breakfast that didnt look any better, and he said was quite bland . I didnt eat my breakfast and the waitress asked if i had a problem i said i already sait i didnt want this sausage substitute, i was given it anyway and the food was awful she offered to get me something else but i declined. In my opinion the breakfast and the staff serving it were not in keeping with the rest of the hotel.

Thatcher's is a great place to stay. It is a good, comfortable hotel, with wooden beam roofed restaurant. The breakfasts are pretty good, with a decent pot of tea included too. The rooms are comfortable and about right temperature-wise, it was a bit chilly in the evenings, though it is UK. Staff were very good in all areas of the hotel. There's a petrol station next door with shop, though there's also a village shop & PO about 10 mins down the next road which has things to buy and is also less expensive too.
