Booked a twin room, self check-in allocated one with a double (no options, no details of room allocated) cue a trip back to reception for this to be changed by a very helpful member of staff.
The room was quiet, temperature fine, we slept ok.
The room is incredibly basic. 3 items of furniture (2x bed, 1x luggage stand), 2 coat hooks. That’s it. No bedside table, no headboard (plug sockets here your head goes), no wardrobe, no where to put any devices other than on the floor. 1 pillow each.
The bathroom was spacious, largely clean (did find a silverfish calling it home), but was really cold and had nowhere at all to put towels, toilet bag, clothes, etc. there were no hooks or shelves whatsoever.
Shower curtain was a bit yellow at the bottom. Shower pressure was rubbish.
In terms of ambience, there isn’t any.
Walking to the room along dimly lit grey corridors with no natural light feels quite dystopian.
Given the lack of windows, any form of natural light, and the good sound insulation, the room feels like something in between a sensory deprivation chamber, a bunker and a prison cell.
The room is not somewhere to spend time or “hang out”.
The location was very handy, the price was less than other options. It wasn’t a terrible experience but wasn’t what we expected.
Had we realised when booking that there would be a £15 charge for bag drop before check-in and again after check-out, we’d have been looking at other hotels for an extra £30.
