Birds Nest Cottage Looe

Bird's Nest Cottage is a traditional Cornish fisherman's cottage located in the very heart of East Looe’s old town and is a stone's throw from the sandy beach (at the end of the street), historic harbour and Banjo Pier. The cottage is ideally located in a quiet position on one of the town’s quaint old back streets. It has been renovated to a superior standard with everything you need for a perfect holiday. While there’s no outside space or garden, the beach is less than a minute away on foot.

Bird's Nest is a locally managed traditional fisherman's cottage which has undergone a total refurbishment to bring it to the very high standard that it is in today. It is arranged over three floors with a cosy feel and benefits from luxurious furnishings with a great deal of thought going into every detail to make it home from home. The use of quality bed linen and towels is included. The cottage also has broadband wi-fi. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept pets or service animals.

This traditional Cornish cottage is laid out over three floors and gives a flavour of a bygone era. We have just finished completely refurbishing this property for the season, so everything is new and clean in this beautiful cottage. Please be aware that the stairs can, for some, be a little steep and a possible struggle for more elderly and less mobile travellers.

Joining instructions are usually sent out 2 - 3 weeks before arrival. Guests can normally access the house from 4.30 pm on the first day, although we will our best to get you in well before this. We ask that your accommodation be vacated by 10.00 am on the day of departure. Unfortunately, our cleaning company dictates these times, although we will do our very best to extend these.

A busy fishing port, with a popular family beach, Looe has been a favourite holiday destination since Victorian times. East Looe is a fantastic holiday destination with wonderful coastal walks and beaches and many local cafes, restaurants and pubs. With its great road and rail links, Looe enjoys an excellent position to explore the rest of Cornwall....the Eden Project is only 45 minutes away and Port Isaac less than an hour away.

The cottage has an allocated parking space in the town’s Millpool carpark which is a 7-8 minute walk away. The town is also accessible by train and the station is a 15 minute walk from the house.

The house has the benefit of one allocated parking space in Looe's Millpool carpark which is 7 - 8 minutes away on foot. Guests are welcome to drive into the top of Higher Chapel Street, just a few yards from the entrance, to unload and load etc.

Looe is an historic fishing village with restaurants and shops on your doorstep. The cottage is in the heart of the village, in a quiet cobbled street and is an excellent position to explore all of Cornwall and do some of the most scenic walks in the region. Transport links are excellent and the train station is 15 minutes away on foot.
During your stay at this cottage, you're just a quick walk from Old Guildhall Museum and Gaol. The cottage includes amenities such as a kitchen and a TV.
  • The cottage offers a kitchen, a washing machine and a TV

Lovely cottage
Beautiful little cottage in an excellent location. We had a slight problem with the heating but this was immediately resolved. I would definitely recommend. And we'll be returning 😁

Great stay at Birds Nest Looe
Compact cottage in the perfect location in Looe. Well-appointed kitchen, everything you need and more, bijou sitting room on the 2nd floor, with a toilet and shower room off it. Great shower pressure. Bedroom on top floor has ample storage and large bed. Good communication from our host and the caretaker on arrival. Yards from the beach and 30 seconds from the centre of Looe. Perfect week for a couple.

Good Location
Lovely location close to beach and amenities, the property could do with some maintenance TLC. The shower leaked because sealant needs replacing in the shower tray causing water to come through the ceiling into the kitchen, the outside pipe work leaks and the front door does not feel secure

Traditional Looe
Cottage is well described in online brochure. Stairs are steep - need care at our age! No frozen food compartment in the fridge? But an ice maker provided? Curious. Overall we had a great time in Looe - thank you.

Once the initial surprise of the stairs wore off it was great. Very clean, very comfortable stay. Bathroom a little small but as only me staying wasn't an issue. Ideal location for beech and town.

Fabulous location & nice home
The house was in a brilliant location - very quiet little alleyway literally one minute from the beach, the shops and the quayside. It made the holiday really easy as it was so convenient. The house was very nice, well decorated and furnished. Please note that the stairs are extremely narrow and steep and even being fit and agile, it was a little bit scary particularly when carrying luggage upstairs. Some of the details online were different to some of the communication. There is a free allocated parking space at Millpond Car Park (10-15 minutes walk from the property) on some information it said you have to pay - you don’t. There is full free WiFi despite it saying there wasn’t any on several communications so that was a bonus. The kitchen had the basics but as we love cooking there were a few things we’d like to have had (baking trays and oven dishes for example). But there was a kettle, toaster, lots of good knives, a cafetière and lots of crockery. There wasn’t a lot of room in the bathroom as the sink was huge for such a tiny space, there was no lock on the door which was a bit annoying. You kept on knocking the door open when you are at the sink. Also, no plug! The towels supplied were good though a couple of bath sheets wouldn’t have gone amiss. Everything was very well presented, decorated and very clean. On leaving we were unable to put our rubbish in the bin as it had a combination lock and there was no number provided. We would have loved a seat outside in the lane instead of the plants! Communication was pretty good though a bit slow and all the instructions were very clear. The online details need updating. We had a very nice stay and enjoyed being there. All in all it was a very lovely stay indeed.

Our stay in Fishermans cottage Looe
The location of the property is excellent just seconds from the beech, shops, resaurants, pubs everything at hand. The parking permit is a bonus although you have to walk for it but its not that far if you are in good health otherwise it is a walk. The cottage was very quaint, the stairs are very steep so if you have difficulty with stairs it's not for you. The bathroom is very small, found it very hard to dry myself and dress in there and had to dress in the living area. The sink is very big for the bathroom and it takes up alot of space. The cottage was clean but the bed linen could do with a boil wash as they had a musty smell to them like when you walk into a charity shop. The bottle of cleaner in the bathroom what was meant to have bathroom cleaner in it, it was supposed to be pink stuff on the bottle but it had bleach in it not what it said. The cottage had everything you need in it for a lovely holiday just needs a couple of bits tweeking for me like I explained, the ice maker was brilliant make sure you use it. I am going to invest in one found it very useful. I also noticed that none of the electric appliances hadn't been pad tested and the hair drier needs replacing as it is overheating and is glowing red when you use it.

Perfect position, 2mins from beach. Huge comfortable bed. Great free parking over the bridge. Bathroom very small and difficult to manoeuvre, needs a lock too, as the door swings open everytime you try to move. Stairs are difficult to manage if you have any physical restrictions.

Cosy Cottage for agile people
The cottage was very close to the beach and convenient to walk out and go for a swim first thing before the beach filled up with holiday makers. As described the cottage is cosy and over 3 floors and you need to be okay with climbing up and down the narrow, steep stairs with a turn in them. The kitchen is well equipped, there is even an ice maker, but there is no freezer of freezer space in the fridge which was tricky as we had brought some supplies for the freezer . The bathroom has a decent shower and a heated towel rail. I agree with some of the reviews that the sink is quite large for the room and gets in the way when you get in and out of the shower. The bedroom has a comfy bed and a wardrobe and dressing table with a hair dryer supplied. There is a small thing to be aware of - the wooden key box juts out and we both knocked our heads on it at different times when straightening up from loading the dish washer - it would be a good idea to move the box to the left or move it higher up - which would stop this from happening. Overall we had a good week and this cottage was a good base for us.

Got engaged!!
Absolutely amazing time.perfect location, great communication between us and the owners. Even though it’s a tiny cottage it was perfect Size, and very cute and quirky which we wanted over modern. The only let down and disappointment was the fact the cottage was very unclean… The bathroom was very dirty, hairs on shower rack, toilet and sink dusty and unclean.. floors gritty ,went to hoover and found vacuum blocked.. Looking back over reviews this has been a regular complaint.. If we could guarantee it was up to a cleaner standard, we would highly recommend and use you again.. As we had a great time with the added bonus of getting engaged.. Kind regards

Disappointed.
I wanted to love this property but it hadn't been cleaned thoroughly for quite some time - thick accumulated dust in corners of stairs, skirting boards, ledges, shelves and mouldy bread in bread bin, dust covered bread maker, I could go on - would have been a good candidate for 'Four in a bed' programme. Very tricky stairs which had no working lights so dangerous and you need to be 'smallish' to execute them and the bathroom - almost impossible to wash and dry oneself without having the door to the sitting room open. To be fair the House Manager and Peter did their best by replacing one light and getting a cleaner in to go over some of it again but what it really needs is a thorough deep clean and some repairs - hole in kitchen ceiling held together by parcel tape!! Rather disappointing for my first holiday in 3 years.

Three floors, three rooms, as expected. We got used to the staircase but you need to be fit.
Lots of effort has been put into furnishing this tiny cottage but it would be easily improved by taking away two superfluous chairs from the kitchen to allow you to get your knees under the table. So many sharp knives on the kitchen wall make it look like an abattoir. Biggest drawback is the large round basin in the shower room which takes up too much room and doesn't have a plug so you can't have a wash in it, only clean your teeth. Nice bedroom, and overall a cute cottage for two in a really convenient place for beach and shops.

Cosy Fisherman's Cottage near the beach
The cottage is ideally placed in Looe. Just back from the beach, and secluded enough that the only noise you might get is from the gulls. There are a couple of nice coastal walks nearby, and there are lots of places to eat and drink nearby (Catch is great for fish and chips), plus a great fishmongers. Only thing I'd say is that being a fisherman's cottage, it's 3 rooms situated over 3 floors, and the stairs are quite narrow and a little steep (though there are bannisters and hand-rails) in case you're not into that kind of thing. Other than that, highly recommended

Small cosy and just Perfect
Loved this property a real home from lots of hand wash, soaps and cleaning products provided, didn't feel like a normal property let. When we arrived into Looe followed the instructions to the house dropped our luggage off then popped back to the parking bay, its a good ten minute walk but we did our big shop on the way to Looe so were all set up for the first few days. First impression's what a lovely clean well equipped cottage washer dryer, ice making machine plenty of crockery just perfect, we were a little worried about the stairs as they are so steep but after a couple of days we had it mastered. I loved being right in town, walking round the harbour after tea, beach, shops, restaurants everything on your doorstep. I would highly recommend this cottage if I could change or add anything maybe a small bistro table and chairs for outside and a more powerful shower :)
