Lovely Riad

Raid
Excellent hotel, very welcoming, very quite and relaxing inside, away from the hussle that is just outside their front door ....but would use transfer from the airport to the Raid, as you will never find it yourself, as after getting out of taxi you have a 5 mins walk, down lots of alley ways.

Nice traditional Moroccan hotel.
Nice hotel once u r inside. Very difficult to find for a newcomer. Raods leading to the hotel is narrow, filthy & often scary. Staffs were excellent. Khadija & Aziz were very helpful. Khadija's english was excellent.

uniquely memorable
A charming above average Riad in the Medina built about the late 19th C for a vizier to the Sultan .....3 stories , just 4 rooms , one a pad for the legendary Josephine Baker in the 1920's .who stayed here when in Marrakesh .Excellent period furnishings , our room was large enough to have us and 2 children feel comfortable ..bBfasts are fresh and hot , service even better .If thuth be told there are 2 very good reasons to stay here.....one is Khatija and the other is Aziz .. Unlikely there are 2 such people in any Riad here . Khatija , the duty manager is charming, well spoken, knowledgeable , and extremely helpful . Aziz , the major domo assistant manager is indescribable--a human dynamo of help . These two make this Riad very special .

A gem in the heart of the Medina
There aren't enough good things to say about this beautiful riad. The staff were fantastic, so great and helpful. Our room was beautiful and exactly the authentic experience we were looking for. After getting lost each day in the Medina coming back to our room to smiling staff was the most wonderful welcome. Once inside the door the craziness of souks just melts away. A must stay if you are heading to Marrakech.

Our stay was excellent! The place is beautiful and calm in the craziness of the medina. We mixed up our reservation and arrived a day early, staff was wonderful and accommodating, so happy we got 2 nights instead of 1!!

Peaceful haven
Quiet and peaceful haven, away from the brouhaha of moroccan street-life. Helpful and friendly staff. Fantastic mattress and pillows! Community hammam round the corner, if you want the local experience rather than the fancied-up tourist hammams that are well advertised.

A good break with lots of new discoveries.
I would have liked to see the quietness remains throughout my stay. The noise inside the Riyad was not a positive mark. The fixed rates for taxi service are dearer than normal fares. The meal options are limited at the Riyad but there are two restaurants near by for best local dishes. Highlights : A walk in the Souk & the square, sights-seeing in the Medina, trip to Essouira and Orika valley. # Watch for a lot of hassles and doggy dealers.

i stayed at the Josephine suite which was very spacious and beautiful. the hotel manager Aziz is also lovely and extremely helpful and offers to assist with restaurants, tours and taxi bookings. but he barely speaks english so communication can be a problem for non french speakers. wifi connectivity is not stable. just like any other Riad located in the medina, although this riad is near Jemma El-fna, staying in any riad requires some sense of direction to find your way back.

Great value for the price
The rooms are traditional but elegant and comfortable at the same time. Our room had one super confortable bed and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The breakfast could be a bit better but you can take it in the terrace with a great view of the Medina Neighborhood. NOTICE: The hotel is really hard to find, the location shown in the map in this webpage was not accurate by the time we were there. The hotel is rather close to the Marrakech Museum. I would suggest calling them and asking for them to pick you up there.

Lovely riad, beautifully kept
Lovely Riad with 5 rooms and a good size terrace with sun loungers. Breakfast was a delight and we always looked forward to the morning sun on the roof terrace. Aziz was fantastic and although he could only speak French we managed to get by. Room were large and clean. Good location for the souks, but probably 15-20minutes without getting lost to the main square.

A warm welcome
Aziz was very welcoming and delightful to deal with. He went out of his way to be helpful and enabled us to do what we needed to do. A very hospitable place to stay - nice feel about it and good value for money.

It´s really very difficut to get there. the staff is very friendly and helpful. There is no heating in the room, and in winter is uncorfortable. The building is lovely. Breakfast is in the terrace, spectacular.

The 'most hidden' treasure ever!
I will start by saying this is the hardest hotel to find in Marrakech... wait... the world! My partner and I got lost every time we tried to return to the hotel and were hasselled by very aggressive locals. It was time consuming and very frustrating. there are no signs or indication of where it is. At least the first time you go there, you must pay a local to show you where it is. other than that, it was amazing. wonderful rooms with huge space, great service and a beautiful rooftop. it is very close to a mosque so be willing to be woken up quite early for prayer... Aziz was amazing. very helpful and a great guy.

shame about the neighbourhood
The riad itself is really comfortable, quiet except for the call for prayers, but thats unavoidable pretty much everywhere. Beds comfy, great breakfasts and views from the terrace. The staff are really friendly and helpful. So I would stay there again if it wasn't for the location. Initially its not easy to find, but once you make the journey a couple of times its fine and the man who works there gives you his mobile number and will come and get you if you get lost. On the map its right at the top of the souks so easy to get straight to the souk if you want to shop and look around and in the daytime this is perfect, but after dark it becomes a very different place. We have stayed in Marrakesh many times at the other end of town and just wanted to try a different riad. This is the first time I have felt intimidated and on edge about going out at night. The walk to the main square isn't so easy and not one we did after an incident on the first night. Everyone else who stayed there at the same time as us went out in the day and stayed in after dark which is a great shame as the square at night is great fun. So if you want to go to a great riad and explore in the day - then its for you, but maybe not the best location if you want to explore on your own at night. Just certainly don't believe the groups of lads hanging around that the way you are going is 'closed now' and you need to go another way. Go where you were going and the likelihood of it being 'closed' is pretty slim.

Spacious rooms, period features, comfortable beds
The building is most impressive with very high ceilings, huge rooms and some lovely architectural features. Being winter, it was uncomfortably cold in the mornings, so a heater that wasn't broken would have been a nice touch. Breakfast was fairly average. Checking out, I was surprised to be charged treble the correct rate for room tax (in cash, no receipt of course). Perhaps the manageress was new to the job ... or perhaps it was just part of "the Marrakech experience". Whatever, it was irritating to have to produce the paperwork, argue the merits of whether hotels.com published the wrong figure and remind her that I'm just one person.

A great gem of a place and outstanding service to match
Although the alleyway location is somewhat daunting initially, once you get beyond this and enter into the courtyard you begin to appreciate what this place has to offer. A beautiful courtyard, a great roof terrace with fantastic views, lovely modern rooms and the best bit is the outstanding service and attention offered by the wonderful Aziz on location,. Though he spoke French and myself English, he was efficient enough to ensure I was very well catered for during my stay, including the fresh mint tea on arrival, pointing out my way to the Medina square, gesturing that I call him on his mobile if I got lost or ran into any difficulties so he could rush over and the excellent breakfast each morning.

Beautiful Rian near Ben Yussuf Madersa
This place is excellent. It is quite hard to find, but once you are there you fell very welcome by Aziz, the manager. It is right in the middle of the medina. Near major touristattractions and about ten minutes walk from Djemaa el Fna. Beautifil roof-top terrace and great breakfast.
