Not what you will expect
I have never given a poor review until today. The water smells so bad that you cannot cook with it, brush your teeth, wash dishes, shower, etc. I live in the country and have NEVER had a well smell like this! There were stink bugs and beetle bugs EVERYWHERE inside and the house needs exterminated. The house had no bowls at all, the a/c is two window units that do not keep the house cool. There is not much cookware and limited utensils. The tub/shower was not something even the kids wanted to shower in. The noise from the street at all hours made it hard to sleep and is close to the road, so a bit dangerous for kids. Overall we were EXTREMELY upset with our accommodations and the fact that the owners made this seem to be such a great place.

Peaceful Farmhouse was so fun!
I brought my sister and daughter to Montezuma/Parke County for the 2024 solar eclipse. The farmhouse is clean, and beautifully built, has very comfortable beds in the two bedrooms, a fireplace, a large kitchen and living room, and a relaxing furnished screened-in porch spanning the front of the house- looking out into farm fields. There is a tree house with swings, chickens, rabbits, and ducks on the very well-kept grounds which are on a beautiful hill. So fun! The host and his wonderful family live nearby and could not have been more friendly and helpful. They are very invested in the community, are true entrepreneurs, and are building big dreams for other businesses that will bring exciting things to Montezuma where the host grew up. There are beautiful woods, covered bridges, and Turkey Run State Park nearby, which offers great hiking opportunities. We look forward to returning to experience the fine restaurant that the host and his family are working on creating- along with other cool amenities they want to include. This was a gem of a visit!

Turkey Run Visit
The host was very attentive and welcoming during our stay. The place was comfortable and very clean. The only inconvenience was an unpleasant odor coming out of the well water system, which made it difficult to bathe and clean the dishes. Also, the bathtub seems to be in a tight space with a big step down while stepping out of the tub. Otherwise, the property is nice and close to Turkey Run, Raccoon and Shades State Parks.

GREAT cabin near Turkey Run & Shades State Parks
Spent a week here while exploring nearby state parks and road biking routes and really enjoyed our stay! The listing under promised and over delivered on amenities and how nice the property was. We spent every evening relaxing on the large screen porch enjoying the view of the gardens (and the chickens!). Nathaniel's house is on the property, but over the top of a hill so it felt very private and peaceful. The interior was much nicer than it looked in the pictures, the beds were super comfortable, and the host Nathaniel was responsive and helpful. We had mentioned that we were visiting to hike the parks and go biking, and he gave us recommendations and maps for hiking and biking routes. Despite temperatures hitting 95 degrees the AC had no problem keeping up and there were plenty of fans if you preferred those (including out on the screen porch for a pleasant breeze). The property is only a couple of minutes out from Rockville, which has a good grocery store and a Walgreens, and it's only about 15 minutes to Turkey Run State Park which had excellent hiking. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back again.
