It was very quiet at night…very little street noise. The hotel and my room were very clean. I had a simple room but it fit the purpose because it close to the events I wanted to attend. The staff was very accommodating. If I had to complain at all…the water pressure for the shower was not the best but for the value and location I will stay here again in the future

We had an amazing stay at Hotel St. James. From the moment we arrived, the front desk service was exceptional- quick, friendly, and accommodating. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, quiet, and well-maintained. We’d like to give a special shout-out to Joey at the front desk. His outstanding customer service made our stay truly memorable. The pillow cases were dirty when we arrived. I called to the front desk to change it and they sent it to the room. Staff was kind and it’s in a goo location, five minutes walk to time square

Just stayed in the hotel this week and really enjoyed our stay!! I’m bad with names but the guy that runs the desk is awesome and always goes above and beyond to help! The rooms were updated and cozy. The location was perfect. Right at Times Square but off a side street so out of the madness!! I am a handicapped guest and very accessible! Close to theatres and Rockefeller! Will definitely sty again. I just love the charm of this little hidden gem!!

The hotel is basic but the rooms are kept clean, beds are comfy and had all the amenities you need for a city break when out on the go all day. The hotel is what I call vintage New York with lots of character and history. Found out while there it’s the 2nd oldest hotel in continuous operation in Times Square dating back to 1902! We were checked in by Joey who was excellent and very welcoming which continued throughout our stay with his amazing New York accent! He always showed and interest in what we were doing and provided great tips for our stay. If you want an authentic old style New York hotel which is comfy clean and has a great welcome (thanks to Joey) this is the place to stay!

The staff is very nice but the hotel is old, it needs some work. The beds are terrible, too noisy, mattresses are old and soft. We had some water issues in the bathroom, the water color was brown.

This 125 year old property is owned by two families and they do a great job! It got the lived in look but the rooms have been freshened and modernized. Its a relitive bargain compared to the Brands in the Times Square neighborhood. Its a block off the Square and two blocks from several theaters. you can easily walk to the park and Madison Sq garden. Subway, bus and Uber is all handy. the HoHo Bus origination is two blocks. Great Bodega, Cook, next door for early AM coffee and lots of prepared and cook to order food. The Barista starts at 0600 but coffee is always available. Also the cranberry/orange muffins are the bomb! Anitas Gelato shop is two blocks west on 45th! Best ive had since Venice!!!
