Great stay
Very friendly service and convenient to all events and attractions. I am so glad we stayed at this hotel. It is quieter than at Time Square, but easy walking distance to Time Square, shows, and 5th Avenue. Tree in lobby was pretty and many ornaments depicted things specific to NYC. I highly recommend this hotel!

Cutest hotel in the area! Great price with endless conveniences. Worth the stay and some. The staff was beyond accommodating to our every need. Truly so nice! My only complain is that guests don’t get first priority for so sos. The cleaning ladies are so sweet but almost a bit overbearing with the cleaning.

The rooms in this hotel are remarkably large for this area. The staff was kind and helpful. The lobby coffee shop does a good job. There is also a Starbuck's right next door as well. The location is directly next to a subway station. Our only complaint, which is probably true about a lot of NYC hotels, is that dropping off and picking up are difficult. They only had one person helping with luggage on the day of our departure. We had parked in the garage immediately next to and attached to the hotel. We were in a line to pick up passengers and luggage out front and the owner of the same garage harasses us about moving our car. Other than that, we had a lovely time. We'd stay again, but maybe park somewhere else nearby.

We really enjoyed our stay at Romer. The hotel is one block away from a few of the subway lines--very convenient. It's walkable to Times Square, Central Park, Bryant Park--if you're mobile. Housekeeping was great. We didn't use any of the amenities. My only complaints would be related to the bathroom. The lights automatically turn off if you're not moving enough in the main space. When you're in the shower, you have to keep sticking your arm out of the shower to wake the lights coming back on--it was annoying and a little unsafe in a slippery shower when you're all sudsy and can't see. Also, hotels hang the complimentary bottles of shampoo, conditioner and soap on the walls these days. The ones in our bathroom were put on the wall right where the person stands under the water so you hit them every time you raise your arms. That was very inconvenient. They could be placed anywhere else out of the way. You can't change the way the water streams because it's a rainfall shower head and the water pressure is already just barely enough. The bottles should be moved. Even those small problems wouldn't keep us from staying at Romer again--just suggestions! We had an issue during our stay where our heat wasn't working and they sent the engineering very quickly and he fixed it right away. Great customer service. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Renovated, clean hotel. Rooms are great size considering the area. Unfortunately, I would rate the hotel a little above average. The first issue I had was check in. I arrived earlier in the afternoon and understood my room wouldn’t be ready. I went back to hotel around 3pm and asked if my room is ready yet - they said no and it will take another hour. They were really emphasizing the 4pm check in time. I told them I will just wait in lobby. 15min goes by and I noticed a number of solo travellers receiving room keys. I went back to front desk and asked again..she was about to say my room is still not ready but as soon as I mentioned seeing people receiving room keys, she quickly changed her tone and said “oh your room just became available”. I understand most hotels don’t want to offer early check in but I was only 1hr early and I’m spending good money staying for 3 nights…you’d think a good service hotel would offer me a slightly earlier check in. The hotel offer zero amenities and I’m not sure what the $40 resort fee is suppose to cover. It definitely isn’t housekeeping. Over the 3 day stay, the cleaning was bare minimum and bed looked messy. The blanket was almost too small for a king size bed so it wasn’t properly tucked in. The rooms itself is more plain in person than their photos. A lot of exposed wires. Comfortable bed but thin duvet and very uncomfortable pillows. Bed didn’t feel luxurious.

Excellent location for exploring the heart of NYC. Thin walls and busy streets made it quite loud, but that is to be expected. Did not love the bar (So and So) as drinks were not very good and service was slow. But, overall, I would return just for the location alone!
