The room was never cleaned the whole time we were there. 5 days!!! The room stunk from the food that was being cooked for the groups of people staying for conferences. The buffet was 28$for breakfast no other options and was not very appetizing The only good thing was the view from the patio. The rooms were not worth the price!! W

Everything was great; clean, comfortable, quiet. Good food. Our only problem was with the parking. We only stayed one night and chose to self park as we had a wedding to attend off the island. When I checked out I was told $88.00 for the parking. This is absurd. I was shocked. I just paid it but I plan on calling tomorrow to inquire as to why so much. I feel this is really out of line.

The outdoor swimming pool is actually heated and wonderful. I was the only one out there in September, but it was a lovely day. Our room in this hotel had a great view, but somehow felt dark — especially the bathroom. The safe in the closet was on top of ??? Nothing useful. The closet was almost unusable. The beds were nice. The bar and the restaurant are good. Self parking is a nightmare. Just pay the horrible valet parking fees unless you’re young and have no trouble with long walks.

Our rooms were lovely and well appointed. Very comfortable. Quality of food at Torpedo Lounge was excellent, but the host staff had a little trouble handling a very crowded Saturday morning, and were less than friendly about seating us. But our server and food were excellent so we will let that part go.

I’m originally from Newport and very familiar with this hotel. I even had several relatives who worked there in the past. I’ve always liked this hotel. It’s in a great location on Goat island if you love being near the water and hearing the sound of the sea, seagulls, watching the sailboats and ocean liners pass by and seeing beautiful sunsets on the water. It’s also close to downtown Newport and all the shops and restaurants. You can just walk across the causeway and you’re there. If you book a stay here, be sure to get a water view room. Only complaint is the limited in-room dining choices.
