Great hotel

I was a solo traveller in Oslo. The hotel was very close to the city centre (central station and bus terminal less than 15 minute walk away). Tram and bus stop just outside hotel. The hotel is in the more mixed part of town but I still felt safe enough. The staff were incredibly friendly. Free breakfast was great, a very good selection. Asked for a kettle at reception and got a big selection of teas aswell. The WiFi wasn't great, a bit slow and it kept disconnecting. The room was clean and nice. Underfloor heating in the bathroom was amazing!!

My stay at Anker Hotel, the hotel and staff are good either the location. The only problem in that hotel is the car park is very expensive for someone who have paid already some fee. 250 kr, is £20 cost for 24 hours just for the car.

Great value for Oslo centre

I went alone for my 51st birthday and was in explorer mood. By day there is no shortage of great museums and galleries, especially with the hotel so centrally located. The friendly and knowledgable staff were delightful. The rooms are very functional, no frills, clean but bare. But by expensive Norwegian standards its location more than makes up for it. Just make sure if you're off-season that you check with the concierge whether boats are running and what's available to pre-book- you can buy the 1,2 or 3 day passes from the front desk which will save you a fortune on museum entries and travel on both tubes and trams. Tip: take the express bus to and from Rygge airport. It's faster than waiting for the shuttle bus from the airport to the nearest train station at Rygge. The bus terminus is a 7 minute walk from Anker. Out of season the days are a mere 8 hours long and Oslo tends to be very quiet at night. Dawn at around 8 o,clock is a beautiful flash of pinks and blues. Must sees: The National Gallery, the guided tour of Ibsen's house and not least the Viking ship museum! Finally: the Anker breakfast was ample to keep me going throughout the day so this turned out to be not as expensive a city as I had been warned.

Great visit

For the price the hotel was spot on. Great breakfast, good clean rooms, friendly service, a great place to stay on a budget.

Short city break Oslo

Nice, clean hotel. Staff were excellent. Very friendly and knowledgeable! Location is ok. It is very handy for the tram with a stop outside the door. However the street leading to the hotel can be dark and dingy if you are walking. Room was clean and practical with decent wifi and tv. The reading lights were not working but the shower was brilliant.

Zentral gelegen. Preis ist ok. Unpersönlicher grosser Laden. Ich war in einem 8-Zimmer im 7. Stock. Abends und nachts bei offnem Fenster ziemlich Strassenlärm. Hätte mich aber alles nicht gestört. Doch dass man das Badezimmer und WC nicht abschliessen konnte und dass es kein abschliessbares Fach für persönliche Sachen gibt schon. Die Küche verdient den Namen nicht.

Ich komme wegen einer Verspätung meines Fluges um 5 Uhr morgens an und die Rezeption öffnet um 7 Uhr. Wenn man zwischen 23 Uhr und 7 Uhr ankommen, muss man auf der Straße warten. Für einen Fön verlangten 20 Euro, man muss alles mitbringen. und die Rezeption ist immer nass (Schnee) wird nicht ständig gereinigt und ist unangenehm.
