This was a great cottage for a relaxing trip to the thumb with my parents, their dog, and my dog. The place was clean, comfortable, and had beautiful views of the water.
The property was very private despite being close to neighbors. The beach was clean and the water was shallow and clear. We enjoyed spending some time on the beach.
There is a steeper than expected hill off the back patio to get to the beach, which isn't shown clearly in photos and was tough for my 65YO parents. There is a railing on one side though and we made it work. The patio had a nice firepit, grill, and table/chairs.
Inside, the cottage is quaint with the perfect amount of rusticness. The listing photos do not do justice to the beauty; the windows, wood beams, and openness add to the charm.
There was a great breeze from the windows and plenty of fans. Tons of seating and sleeping options.
As for having dogs with us, I have no complaints. They loved the beach and since the floors are tile I didn't worry about them tracking sand inside because it was easy to clean up.
It's a short drive to Caseville/Port Austin/Bad Axe so families staying here have plenty of entertainment/dining options. Caseville and Port Austin have lots of dog-friendly dining options.
Overall we were very pleased with our stay and would definitely recommend this place to others.
