We had only two nights to spend at the farmhouse, and we wished we could have stayed for a week. Or two? This is an idyllic spot, quiet, peaceful, nourishing to all of the senses. You are surrounded by olive trees and cork trees, and rolling hills of vineyards; there are farm dogs and a cat to keep you company. You can listen to the soft pealing of the sheep bells and stargaze at night. Paul is an excellent host, very responsive and helpful. He provided a short tour and explanation of cork harvesting; directed us to a nearby supermarket for groceries; and alerted us to the existence of a busy Saturday market in Estremoz, which we would have otherwise missed. For those seeking a little outdoor exercise, there is a two-mile easy hike from the farmhouse to a chapel on a nearby hill. You can follow this exertion with an excellent lunch (Paul made reservations for us) at the village restaurant, O Chana Do Bernardino. I would have been happy to eat at this restaurant every night for a week. Paul shared wines from his brother's winery -- excellent, and excellent value. All in all, I cannot recommend this spot highly enough. It would be a great location for a family vacation, with the beautiful and pristine swimming pool. We were in Portugal for three weeks, and this was by far my favorite spot. I would return in a heartbeat. Thank you, Paul!
