It was very good experience overall. Only one thing I can think of which may not be good was they gave me room which had an adjoining door for another room. Because of that the talks and sounds were audible across. Wasn’t a comfortable situation.

Decent hotel, Downtown San Diego needs work
Downtown San Diego isn't what I remember. Not the clean lively downtown like it used to be. This hotel is nice but it's a few blocks to get to the heart of downtown...we enjoyed the walk during the day....but not down, i think 7th street where I think the Salvation Army HQ is located. It's a street completely filled with homeless people in tents. We also need to get a suite with a separate bedroom due to sleeping issues. This was a nice room but I the refrigerator & coffee maker are in the bedroom. I would prefer the front room so the person who gets up early has access. Also, the wall doesn't go all the way to the ceiling. Cute patio...kind of noisy at night...lots of sirens, unfortunately. Good breakfast & nice staff.

I was checked into a handicap room but my booking was for a regular 2 queen bed room. I told the front desk that I got the wrong room and showed my booking. However, the employee didn't even care and refused to do anything for me. I'm so very upset. I will NEVER book anything with Holiday Inn. I demand a full refund.

It started before we even checked in, I called the hotel to change the card on file. Instead, they put a $209 charge on BOTH of my cards on file…which I hadn’t received back for days after my vacation was already over. The sheets in our room were stained but we slept in them the first night because we were drained from driving down. The second day we left for at least 6 hours so I had told the front desk to please have someone change the sheets, give us new towels, and throw out the trash. We got back after another long day and our room was untouched. Everything was still a mess, sheets were still stained, it was honestly….irritating. We asked someone to come up and clean the room and it took them over an hour to come. We received new towels and told them to come back after we left to change our sheets. We left for night activities and came back, and again, the sheets were untouched. We checked out the next day, and switched hotels. Very unpleasant service but the breakfast was great.

The room smelled like pee and had white stains on black surfaces. It smelled like goodwill. Parking was $35 a night which was unexpected also the garage was extremely tight. The walls had pads on the walls to prevent cars from getting scratched. The experience was just unpleasant over all and we will not be returning.

Room was big and clean. Bed was a bit too soft for me. The staff were mostly fantastic save for an evening-shift worker who was apparently going to let the pizza I ordered sit there at the front desk indefinitely. 20min after it was supposed to have arrived, I called down, and he told me it was there. Cold pizza! Breakfast was great.

I asked for early check in over the phone, they said okay the room would be ready by 3:30. Came at 3:30 they said its not ready until 4:00pm. I came at 4:00pm they said the room isn't ready should be ready by 4:30pm. It was a long 3 hour drive to get there my room should have been ready the first time i was promised. The staff was loud talking to me for no reason, so everyone could hear what was going on.
