Great location but...
The location was great. Within walking distance of the convention center and the gaslamp quarter. The staff was friendly and the free morning coffee was good. However the hotel amenities were lacking. For two adults, we had only two very flat pillows and an inadequate amount of towels. The bed mattress was too soft and our backs were killing us after a nights sleep. When we checked in, we were told that if we needed the room to be serviced, we should notify the front desk before 10. After we had been there for three nights, we asked to have the room serviced and we're told that they didn't do that. We did ask to at least change the towels, which they did. Compared to the other hotels in the area, the rates were much cheaper. If you're not spending much time in the hotel room, maybe it will work for you.

I feel bad to leave this review but this motel 6 is located at downtown. Since its at downtown location, its not safe and lot of issues. There are people smoking, selling "something" in the street and so many tents/shelter on the street too! Ill consider to stay at chula vista or somewhere else next time i stop by San Diego

horrible, all the non smoking rooms smell like cigarettes, the ac buttons are broken, and the staff doesnt even know if the rooms are clean, the front desk person asked if he can spray the room to make it look clean, literally checked in and checked out after switching rooms twice

What I didn't like was the fact of the limited parking for guest. I didn't like that when I checked in I was not informed that if my room needed service I needed to request it. I had to go to the front desk and ask. Oh and they didn’t tell me that until 2 days before I checked out. The room had a stale smell with a urine odor. The mattress in the room I was staying smelled like it needed to be replaced. I noiticed the amount of homeless people staying in the hotel has increased dramatically. I must have been in a room that was recently vacated by a homeless person. The sink was leaking. The trap and u joint was wrapped with black tape. The shower bar was about to fall down if you handled it to hard. The towels had hair on them. This is why I don't use hotel towels and toiletries. I also didn't like the fact that hotel staff questioned me when I was returning from an outing as to who I was when going to my room......the room that I paid for! This was a horrible experience/stay. I don't see myself returning to this hotel again.

Quick one night stay
We stayed here just for the night. It is an older no frills hotel. The staff are very kind and are happy to answer your questions. On the Hotels.com site I requested a hotel that included breakfast and that had airport shuttle pick-up. This hotel did not do either of those things. There was construction going on so it looks like they are trying to upgrade. There is a washer and dryer on site and vending machines.

Disgusting do not stay there Homeless right in front of entrance. No parking the parking they do have is horrible you cant get out if you need to. Pet feces in hallway next to elevator . Homeless people try to hit you when you walk by.

The linens were dirty, the area around the place had tons of scary people asking for stuff constantly. The wait for a ride took nearly 20 minutes each time. The A/C didn’t work and they told me that they can’t get me a different room. This place is horrible and I have no idea how it could be so expensive.

The rooms are non-smoking but the room I checked in to smelled heavily of cigarettes. The main desk did let me switch to another room but it was next to the elevator and was noisy.
