Loved the hotel and the staff were all very kind. Bummer not having AC but that’s known upfront. In order to stay cool, we had to have the window open and due to the location, there was a ton of street noise all night. Ear plugs are provided at least and we only stayed a night. The room was great and the staff were amazing, so we’d stay again and maybe bring some noise-cancelling headphones

A pleasant hotel in a not-so-pleasant location.
The hotel looks very nice from the entryway through the lobby, bar, and breakfast area; likewise the hallways and our room and bathroom. The room was small. Unfortunately the hotel is located in an area frequented by homeless and/or street people, who are noisy until late at night. The hotel provides ear plugs and a white noise device, but the area can be unsettling. It's a short and level walk from the Powell/Market BART station, so no need to tug luggage uphill.

here are hundreds of homeless people around the hotel, even at the entrance and smells pie. They listen to loud music with large speakers all night and day. It’s not even safe to cross the street; it feels very dangerous. The hotel windows are 200 years old, allowing all noises to come through, and the beds feel like they’re from the 1900s—very uncomfortable. The manager is unreachable; I have tried 5-6 times throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening. I left a message with the front desk, but the manager never called me back. I requested to change my room and have not received a response. I also asked to have my TV fixed, but I haven't heard back on that either. This feels like a scam; it’s more like a homeless shelter than a hotel.

Cheap room but for a reason. The rooms had broken aircon so were extremely hot during the night, no lights worked, the safe was locked, the area feels unsafe on an evening and breakfast was poor . Would not stop in this area again

The staff were very friendly and helpful, wanting to make sure our stay was good. The room and facilities were very clean. Just noisy since it’s downtown but they provide a fan, white noise machine and ear plugs to help with that.
