There was a very loud union protest outside, so loud that we could hear the drums on the 29th floor. Wish we were informed of the protest before booking. Due to the strike, there were no room service, no bottle water, only 1 lobby pizzeria was opened, so we had to order food delivery.

I use to stay at this hotel 20 years ago. I had not been there since 2005. Total disappointment. This hotel is falling apart. Badly maintained, dirty and unsafe. I found a syringe on the bathroom floor and a half empty water bottle on the table. Someone had entered my room. This is a health hazard on top of being disgusting and scary. I never heard back from hotel management about the incident.

A classic hotel in the heart of SF, not bad in its foundation. But really bad at the present time. Apparently the hotel staff strike had been going on for 5 weeks already with non-relenting drumming, megaphone messaging, and other unpleasantries. No end in sight. Now let’s look at this: While this was totally annoying, the other SF problem – the massive numbers of unhoused people on the streets – is directly connected to this: as a worker, one should be able to make ends meet and get some insurance, the lack of which is unquestionably associated with ending up on the street without social support network. It may be time to rethink goals for these hotels: pay nice, achieve happiness of staff and customers, and reduce the social disaster. Originally posted by me on yelp

The hotel itself it great as it provdies spectacular views of the city. Its walkable to different shops and has food locations close by. However, I was not satisfied with the fact that there was no mention of construction of the hotel lobby as i was looking forward to seeing there sesonal decorations. I was also disappointed with the fact that there was no mention of a protest outside the hotel. For the 4 nights we had to deal with loud drum banging and shouting so getting a good nights rest was impossible especially for my children. Im all for potesting and exercising your right which was educational for the kids but at night and at 330 am is unnecessary.
