Deteriorating badly. I have used this hotel often over the last decade and very much enjoyed it. However on this occasion I found that there was now a £10 fee per person over and above the room rate to use the pool etc. This was not clear on Expedia (in the small print and even then ambiguous when I checked). I was told it was clear on the hotel's own website. It was not. The bar is ridiculously expensive. There was a fan running in the room that was loud and could not be turned off. The room was averagely clean at best. I'm afraid I'll be looking elsewhere in Sheffield for future stays.

Super service and lovely room!
I had a great experience at the Mercure hotel! Robin at the desk was welcoming and upgraded our room when he saw it was my birthday, along with complimentary drinks at the bar. The room was really clean and had a lovely view of the peace gardens. I would definitely recommend and stay there again.

A Generous Hotel
Mercure in Sheffield is a lovely Hotel located next to the wonderful Winter Gardens, and very reasonably priced. IT might be worth looking at the layout of the room in 203 as getting out of the Bathroom was a bit tight with chair and desk limiting space - remedy would be - move them to the right - otherwise wonderful

Good hotel, friendly staff! Room was spacious and included a fridge. Certain things could do with being updated as fixtures and fittings are looking tired and worn. The TV would benefit feom being updated, to include more functionality like other hotels at similar price point. Certain clenliness issues with cups and utensils in the room and toilet.

Disappointing stay at the mercure sheffield
I was unable to contact the hotel via telephone prior to my stay to request a twin room instead of a double, after many attempts I sent an email, but upon arrival to the hotel was informed this has not been processed and all beds are made up as a double as standard. The receptionist was initially unhelpful but managed to find the email I had sent 5 days before and reluctantly arranged for our room to be changed to a twin. When we got to our room; the double sheet and quilt were still on one bed and had just been tucked under the mattress. The pool facilities were an extra £10 per guest which was not made clear upon booking and the facilities were average, which was disappointing. We had an issue with an item in our room which was quickly resolved by a member of the maintenance team. The location of this hotel was brilliant with plenty of parking nearby. Overall our stay was ok, but the issues we had mean we would be reluctant to stay in this hotel again.

Misleading advertising spa hotel
We chose this hotel in particular as it has a pool and we wanted that spa experience to have a little relax and chill out time but what they don’t tell you is that you have to pay £10 extra per person each time you use it. So kind of ruined the main reason we chose this hotel. I’ve checked even if I booked today and they still do not mention this. Very misleading.

Just a bit of a disappointment
Positives were location, the bed was super comfy, the air con was brilliant (not noisy and worked), very clean and no waiting about for service as well as a decent breakfast. Downsides were, the shower did not get hot or close to warm, mentioned this on checkout and it was noted down - wasn't after a discount or anything but not even a sorry. I don't think there was any malice or anything just more the fact that some of the staff didn't seem to register that it was an issue. The staff we're not bad but lacked a awareness. The hotel too, although not bad but rather dated in the rooms, 90's, I think we just expected more. The service / shower combo is the primary reason for the 3* review.
