Beautiful hotel, lovely setting, well appointed rooms. It was a disappointing stay on a couple of levels however. The light switch setup is incomprehensible. Tiny switches with tiny little pictures. Flip up to turn it on or down to turn off, except the DND sign which works in reverse. Toilet light would not turn off no matter what switches I flipped. I called the service number and was told to flip a switch. I explained that didn’t work and the operator said she’d send an engineer. The engineer didn’t arrive. Called again. Waited, no engineer. Went to the lobby and asked them to call an engineer, who arrived immediately. The engineer accompanied to my room and spent 10 minutes trying every combination of switches, before telling me the light couldn’t be turned off. The solution is to close the toilet door and close the bathroom door. How could no-one know this? How can it be acceptable for a hotel with how many hundreds of rooms - have a light that stays on 24x7? On my last day I called the call the call centre again for assistance with my bags from the porter for check out. The phone rang and rang, then a very sleepy sounding lady answered. Porter never arrived. Took my bags downstairs myself, no-one seemed to know about my request. Recommended if you want to show off at a lovely hotel, but not if you actually want decent service.
