Great hotel location with good views over the beach and the bay towards Hayle. Unfortunately the staff were only interested in the coach parties attending the hotel and we felt rather ignored. No mention of bar or restaurant when we arrived or even during the stay until we asked. Room was outdated but a good size. Parking for cars behind the hotel, but travelled in a van so unable to use.

We didn't expect a lot from this stay because the price was very reasonable. The property requires much updating. The room was clean but again required updating. The walls are clearly quite thin which was disappointing as I was disturbed by the neighbours showering in the night and because our room was at the top of the stairwell we had the banging of the stairs door every time someone went through it. The overpriced breakfast was very limited and the staff were clearly quite stretched. Location was good, however the parking was off-site.

Sorry to say but a very tired hotel Had what we needed, almost perfect, spend a week here? no marks on walls and carpets, paint peeling. girl in breakfast yrying to fo everything, under staffed! Highlight was buffet breakfast, plenty tasty and filling.

I had read lots of reviews mostly bad, however I don’t know why. The staff were really pleasant. The reception was efficient courteous and sorted out the booking error with no fuss. I really can complain and I am amazed at some of the negative reviews. Would I stay again absolutely. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Rooms & hotel are a little tired but acceptable for the money paid - good value . however the sea views and location are great . Opposite the beach , near railway station and short walk to town I forgot to try reserving a hotel parking space but got parked at railway station ok in August

Man behind the desk was very rude. Milk had gone off and could not drink the tea at breakfast. Carpets not clean. Bed and pillows very uncomfortable. Reception constantly had guests complaining about something regarding their stay. Nice location and view out of the window. Would not stay again though.

The first room we had smelt really bad of dog poo and was so warm it was not comfortable and made us feel unwell. We asked to change rooms, which they accomadated with ease and the second room we had was comfortable and smelt better. It was an ok place to stay as a base to explore St Ives with a dog.

St Ives Bay Hotel
St Ives is a great holiday destination but it was ruined by the hotel we stayed in. The facade and the location were the only two things that matched the info and pictures we saw on the booking website. Also the location, it was great! Everything else was a really bad experience. The check in was very brief, little information given and no welcome greeting. The building inside is also, rundown, dirty and smelly. In need of major refurbishment. Our rooms had the advertised sea view but everything else was poor. Very old, basic and very dirty. The carpet for example was so dirty that we couldn’t walk barefooted. The bed was clean but very uncomfortable and the bathroom was very basic as well but the towels were clean but we could see cobwebs everywhere. The breakfast was poor, not much to choose from and very low quality food. For example the fruit was only two types and was tined fruit and nothing looked really appealing. The staff, no one looked happy and always rushing around. The check out, after waiting a long time at the desk, had to go into the breakfast area to ask for assistance and was told to leave the room keys at the front desk, no one was there to say thank you or goodbye. We will go back to St Ives but we will not stay in this hotel and we don’t recommend it.

Lovely hotel. Nice and quiet but not too far from town. Perfect for train station. Stayed in Family room with two kids. Turned up early and reception let us into room two hours early
