St Ives is a great holiday destination but it was ruined by the hotel we stayed in. The facade and the location were the only two things that matched the info and pictures we saw on the booking website. Also the location, it was great! Everything else was a really bad experience. The check in was very brief, little information given and no welcome greeting. The building inside is also, rundown, dirty and smelly. In need of major refurbishment. Our rooms had the advertised sea view but everything else was poor. Very old, basic and very dirty. The carpet for example was so dirty that we couldn’t walk barefooted. The bed was clean but very uncomfortable and the bathroom was very basic as well but the towels were clean but we could see cobwebs everywhere. The breakfast was poor, not much to choose from and very low quality food. For example the fruit was only two types and was tined fruit and nothing looked really appealing. The staff, no one looked happy and always rushing around.
The check out, after waiting a long time at the desk, had to go into the breakfast area to ask for assistance and was told to leave the room keys at the front desk, no one was there to say thank you or goodbye.
We will go back to St Ives but we will not stay in this hotel and we don’t recommend it.
