All the staff were very lovly, unfortunately i wouldn't rate this property as 5 star as its very warn and rough round the edges,. When we got to pur room 101 my husband ran a bath, the water was brown and had black bits floating around, we called house keeping and for the next 30 mins it was still not clear, so a guy on reception kindly moved us to a room where the water was clean. The food in the restaurant was excellent and staff very nice, wouldn't stay the night again, but would eat in the restaurant.

THE place to stay in Guernsey!

Pros: The hotel's location; the professionalism of the staff; the comfort of our room and the public areas; fluffy white towels; and the breakfasts!
Cons: I feel it's perfect!
Location: The OGH is very well positioned for access to the harbour in St. Peter Port and to the main attractions e.g Candie Gardens.
OGH feels like a country house hotel with its deep carpets and antiques. We could not have been more comfortable or better looked after. The staff are, without exception, courteous, helpful and friendly. We loved our room with its SV and balcony; as we sat on the balcony, we looked out, from left to right, to Alderney, northern France, Herm, Sark and Jersey. The breakfasts were magnificent (I recommend the "Crushed Avocado" and the "Smoked Haddock Kedgeree"!)

Old worldly comfort

Reminded me of Raffles in Singapore. The staff fall over themselves to help. An excellent pianist - PAUL - accompanies your evening meal with Gershwin and other similar music. There’s a Harry’s Bar to remind you of Venice. Whatever you need - the Concierge will arrange for you. A mystical, luxurious experience. Excellent.

early summer break

Chosen for its central location in the main town, the hotel proved ideal for events in the town, visiting other attractions in Guernsey, and boat trips to the other islands. We had a very comfortable and relaxing break.

Brilliant superlative experience

only disappointment was the pool did not open until 0800hrs, delayed us exiting to enjoy the delights of St Peter Port which were many and for me the view from the room was not reflected in the cost of the room, industrial stack, flat roof of kitchen and car park. the staff were fantastic the rooms were spotless and the extra touches were amazing, turndown service, towels and water if you went for a run, sweets available all the time and a gift when leaving, amazing. the staff were the best part of this experience they could not do enough for you and always with a genuine smile.

Fantastic family hotel right in the centre of town

The staff make this hotel. We had a wonderful stay. The atmosphere was relaxing. From the moment we entered the hotel the staff from the front desk all the way through to the maids and bar staff made our staff truly fantastic.

Weekend break

Staff extremely good but hotel is back in the 80s! Décor very poor in fact windows were in a poor state of repair and pillows smelt stale! Would not return until they rejuvenate the interior, Moved on to La Fregate hotel in St Peter Port which, although 4 star, is excellent!!
