Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Great location, super-helpful staff. But no elevator, and all rooms are 2 or 3 levels above the street, so if you have a lot of luggage, think twice.
The cozy room & spacious en suite were just what I needed. A restaurant & brewery were just downstairs. Very walkable to The Rocks, CBD & Circular Quay. I would stay there again.
Great service and enthusiasm from staff, very helpful. Rooms are big enough, clean, comfortable. Bar has several good house brews and excellent fish and chips (with malt vinegar). Walking distance to SOH, ferries, Metro. One down point - no elevator but that is because, as the oldest working pub in Sydney, it is a protected building.

Room was small. too many flights of stairs to get to your room.
Had a meal in the pub and they asked for you to pay for it first which I found kind of weird.
We had a fabulous 2 night stay at The Lord Nelson. The room was spacious, clean, well appointed for all our needs. We would stay there again when visiting Sydney.
Such a lovely and unique place to stay. I do recommend it but with some caveats: 1) It is a walk up so if you have issues, keep that in mind. They will help with bags, but if you’re leaving on the weekend, you’re on your own (with no instructions on what to do). 2) Plugs are not near the bed - this is a bit of an inconvenience; 3) I left my cell phone (with credit cards in the cab). The cab driver called the hotel and offered to return with the phone right away but the person who answered the phone could not go down to retrieve it so told him to come back later (so I was left without ID, money or anything for hours). How about let me go down to get it? Anyway, it is super cute and unique.
Wonderful, character-filled building, convenient to walk to waterfront and other parts of Sydney. Friendly staff and restaurant as part of pub had wonderful food (we hardly ever eat in hotel dining places but we went here twice as was so good. A great option after a long day of touring) Great beer too! Guests should know that there is no elevator which might be problematic for some.
The Lord Nelson is a classic Aussie Hotel experience. A beautiful bar downstairs, that showcases their own beers and excellent pub food, and quiet and comfortable rooms upstairs. It's a quiet part of the city but also a short walk to Circular Quay, the CBD and Darling Harbour.
Historic Brewery and Hotel in the Rocks area of Sydney, which is pretty quiet after11. The good is that the rooms are clean, comfortable and updated. The bar staff handles check in and are helpful and friendly but we did not see any dedicated hotel staff. The description of the hotel refers to AC but no controls in room so I am not sure that is correct. There is no elevator so you will need to carry bags up 2 flights of stairs. If that is ok for you it is an affordable option near Circular Quay.
We enjoyed our stay very much but the 60 odd steps up to our third floor room was tiring for a couple in their late 60's. The location was great and it was very quiet and central to our needs. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable.
