15 minute walk from Ikebukuro station. Hotel was clean, service was good. There were some minor things with the room. Mainly that the drain on the shower was partially clogged so it would pool around your feet. The view was great. It’s bigger than the surrounding buildings so you can see a lot of the surrounding skyline. If you stay here it might be worth looking through the amenities. If you’re like me and just slept in the room, it might not be worth the price.

Sunshine City is an incredible place to stay. I've been staying there for years when I visit Tokyo. The hotel is beautiful and very clean. It has a big Family Mart convenience store right in the lobby and is attached to the big Sunshine City mall with 4 floors of stores and restaurants. The hotel is just a 10 minute walk from Ikebukuro Station or Higashi-Ikebukuro subway station. The mall has the Pokemon Center Mega Tokyo in it and there are many anime shops, arcades, stores and restaurants between the hotel and train station. Highly recommend!

Nice hotel and location
We stayed for 10 days. It was a pleasant stay. The room was small but we managed. We have 2 large, 1 medium and 2 carry-ons luggage. The bathroom was quite small and has a low ceiling too so if you’re tall ( my daughter and I are quite petite) like 5’10” and up, you will be hunching down. It’s quite a convenient location. There’s a connecting mall, convenience store, near the higashi-ikebukuro station [yurakucho line] which is conmected to the mall and the ikebukuro station which is the main station and has most of the train services. The only thing I dislike is the smell of smoke at the lobby sometimes probably coz there is a smoking area at the side of the lobby. Other than that it’s a very comfortanle stay. Ikebukuro is like the anime land so that’s a bonus for anime lovers.

Stopover stay to explore ikebukuro.
Convenient location in ikebukuro. Airport limousine bus to & fro haneda & narita airport. Sunshine city mall is connected to hotel. Room is fairly small. Bathroom & toilet a bit worn out & ventilation is poor.

I stay here every time I am in Tokyo. I’ve been staying here for the last 20 years or more. The building has become old and dated (since it was built in 1980) but it’s consistent in terms of service and location. I love the convenience and the size of rooms. The front lobby and workers are fantastic and are always helpful. The airport limousine busses drop off and pick up right in front of the hotel, the lobby houses KuronekoYamato delivery services, there’s a Family Mart in the lobby floor, and the hotel is connected to the Sunshine City/Alpa mall. It’s equidistant to both Ikebukuro station and Higashi-Ikebukuro station and very transportation friendly. There’s always things to do and places to eat while being easily accessible to train systems to get around to other parts of Tokyo. I saw that they’re also renovating the higher levels to I look forward to seeing that next year when I’m back!
