With Redwood National Park hiking trails close by and beautiful lagoons and beaches right across the road, the adventures are endless from this wonderful logger cabin! Warm up alongside the wood stoves in your cozy living room or formal bedroom, prepare quick snacks or full meals in your unique, full kitchen, eat or play board games at your dining table, or step outside to your front porch or grassy backyard. Fire up the grill for a few summertime treats or just sit by the creek and watch for visiting elk.

Enjoy a coveted location halfway between Orick and Trinidad. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the close proximity to the charming small town of Orick in the beautiful Redwood Forest with quick access to hiking, fishing, and water sports. The hiking all around you is truly world-class - whether through the Redwood National Park, around the lagoons, the trail from Dry Lagoon to Stone Lagoon along the beaches then through the woods (about five miles round trip), Lady Bird Johnson Grove, Tall Trees, and much more. You can do some of these hikes by just walking out your door - especially the Dry Lagoon to Stone Lagoon one. And for water lovers, the lagoons offer great fishing, kayaking, canoeing, boating, and sailing. Some visitors enjoy putting in a kayak or canoe at Stone Lagoon and paddling across to the campsite, then hiking to the beach from there.

Very peaceful
Fun and interesting decor. Access road is rough, but easily doable. Beds were very cozy and comfortable. Kitchen is small, but has more than you'll need in the way of condiments and spices. Very nice cabin, especially when the weather is stormy.

Private Cabin, Thoughtful Management
We stayed for 5 days. We've stayed at cabins before. I bought a fire brick thinking I wouldn't have the tools to make kindling easily being that we flew in, and the owners had kindling, newspaper, and about an 1/8th cord of wood at the ready. Really a meaningful addition that saves time and money. The cabin has many accents that really add to the character of a cabin in the woods. One of the owners makes these himself. We slept comfortably, the cabin is located close to a ton of trails that put you in the heart of the redwoods. It really is a great private spot not on a property with a ton of other tenants like other cabins. We had a great time, owners obviously care about their guests. I would recommend to anyone who asked.

Cozy cabin, must stay!
This cabin is rustic but has all the amenities (plus some) of home. It is isolated but close to everything. It was great to explore trails and the Red Woods. Then come "home" to a comfortable cabin with warm wood stoves, soft beds, a cup of coffee/tea or a glass of wine. The hosts are great people too!

This was the perfect home base to explore all the different parts of the Redwoods! We hiked trails in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, Prairie Creek State Park, Sue-Meg State Park, and Redwoods National Park. Nothing felt too far a drive. We got to see elk both in the mornings and afternoons as we drove in and out. The cabin was clean and comfortable, with plenty of space for our family of four to spread out. !

Wow. This place was amazing. We loved our stay here. Our family of 4 stayed here as our home base while visiting the Redwood National and State Parks. It is secluded and surrounded by nature. It has most everything you could need or want and the hosts were so very kind and welcoming. They also have a binder filled with excellent information for you to view upon arrival . The exterior of the home is a little more faded than the photos, but the inside is exactly as pictured. We enjoyed viewing the wildlife in the area. We saw banana slugs, Roosevelt Elk in a nearby meadow, and a small female black bear in the back yard! We definitely recommend this place when staying in the area!

Great Cabin in the Woods
This is a very charming and cozy cabin. Well decorated and had all the essentials for a great stay. The wood burning stove added to the rustic atmosphere. The cabin was very clean and well maintained. It is as described on the website. We were able to have an amazing trip to see the giant redwoods and hike the surrounding parks. Overall great cabin!

This stay was not completed because the cabin wreaked heavily of a musty bothering smell.
My husband and and I traveled 3k plus miles from Maine. We planned this vacation for a year; a visit to the Redwoods. This cabin was supposed to be part of our vacation experience. Unfortunately, this deeply impacted our visit. We are waiting to resolve with VACASA.

Magic in the woods
We stayed at the cabin for two nights but as soon as I walked in, I was wishing it was for longer. Every detail was thought of. It’s really lovely—high-end cabin decor and fully stocked. 2 acres of beautiful property surrounds you. The kitchen is tiny but you barely notice because it’s so quaint. Close to gorgeous hiking and redwood trails. Being amongst the redwoods is a transformative experience and returning home to this cozy, well-appointed cabin after a day of hiking felt like perfection. It is a bit remote but the 15/20 minute drive into the town of Trinidad was easy and super cute with local restaurants and a great market. I’ll be dreaming of this beautiful cabin.

Tucked away gem in a great location
This is a beautiful cabin a short distance from a beautiful beach up a private road, surrounded by lush forest. The photos and description are accurate. The location can't be beat. It was very clean. The price, to us, was appropriate to the amenities. The owner is attentive, lives nearby, and has clearly responded to years of reviews and suggestions. It exceeded our expectations; our kids loved it. The kitchen was great. Yes, it is a bit small. But two people could cook in it. This kitchen is very well-appointed for a rental. Unless I missed it, there is no sous vide, but it has everything you need for making a nice meal. There were some spices, condiments, a few staples like flour. The knives were razor sharp--a sign of regular attention. A couple of thoughts based on other reviews. This is a cabin in rural Humboldt County. I'm not surprised to hear that some in the area prefer to be left alone. Neighbors nodded or waved at our family when we drove by. For people tucked up into the woods, they seemed tolerant of a nearby rental and a car driving back and forth, crammed to the hilt with kids and stuff and sporting out-of-state plates. Also, this a very nice cabin, but... it's a cabin. It is heated by wood. We appreciated the ridiculous amount of kindling and fire supplies. Although charming, I was reminded on night five of just how much work it is to heat a home with wood. I forgot my axe, and my wife laughed at me for saying so. But thankfully, the axe wasn't necessary. Anyway, I'm glad I was not the one splitting all these logs or filling the containers full of tiny kindling. I would probably have given myself a splinter, even though I have a beard. The only suggestion I can think to make is that the back yard could really use a hand-built, Finnish-style, wood-fired sauna--this would be nestled neatly into the hillside, like an illustration from an old picture-book version of The Hobbit. Other than that, this cabin had every detail we could possibly dream of.

A good getaway place for a “Family digital disconnection”
This was a nice little secluded place to get away from the rat race of modern daily living. Our family (consisting of two teenager daughters) enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and coziness of this cabin. We were though, frustrated for most the nights (all except for the first night) in keeping the fireplace going. It was raining the week we were there and the wood that was provided (since it was outside and not covered well enough) was wet and was hard to find dry pieces so that we could keep it going without constantly tending to it. The kitchen is super small and you could tell by looking at the pictures provided, but it was even smaller barely enough room for two people to be prepping and cooking. Utensils and cookware that was provided was not the best quality and not well stocked but we made do. Bottom line is that you basically pay for the secluded and cozy atmosphere because for the price you end up paying per night was not commensurate with what amenities and size of the space that the place had. We were also disappointed that there wasn’t a door for the one bedroom. As parents, it would’ve been nice to have some privacy and our own bathroom. For the amount of money, we would’ve expected a cabin resort with the extra services that vacation properties include.

Absolutely Perfect!!!
My wife and I LOVED this cabin. It felt like home. Whoever did the decor, did an outstanding job. You heat the place with 2 wood-burning stoves and they had left us with plenty of firewood, papers, and kindling that help to make it super easy. The bed and sofa were very comfy. I can't speak highly enough of this place and would recommend anyone looking for a cabin to stay here. We will most likely be back at some point in time. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your property. - Brad & Suzie
