The room was extremely small....smaller than I had thought. Very hard to find if you are not familiar with the property. They did not know the day of my departure that there was a water taxi strike. I walked to the stop and waited an hour before someone told me about the strike. I had to walk to the train station with 3 bags of luggage. I would have taken a private taxi if I had been told.
It was fabulous stay, we had lovely room on 1st floor looking over the canal. Staff were friendly and in a perfect spot so close to the water buses from F Nove. Will stay again. Wifi excellent, breakfast good.
The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. We had to move from one hotel to the other and arrived at 10:00 AM. Obviously our room were not ready since check out is 11 AM but we were able to keep our luggage there and go explore the city. There was a breakfast there, and since we were not going to be able to have breakfast the next day since we were leaving early in the morning they let us have breakfast the day we checked in. There was a nice rooftop terrace. If you wanted to have a glass of wine or something. We had wine waiting for us along with water , I can’t explain again how wonderful the staff was. The front desk is open 24 hours so someone is always available. The nice thing is they have the water taxi available at the hotel which made the experience to the airport a lot easier. They arranged for us to have a taxi in the morning to take us to the airport. This is definitely worth staying at.
The Hotel was a very nice place in a great neighborhood and the staff was top notch. Would have given the property 5 stars if it was not for the poor air conditioning in the room. It was hot in Venice and the air conditioning was subpar and sleeping was not good. Non-summer months this place would be a 5 star stay.

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
The hotel was situated on one of venices canals, in walking distance of Cannaregio and Ponte di Rialto. The hotel was dated in decor and stairway carpet was well worn. Fully functioning lift. Average size single room, have stayed in a lot bigger. View was of the courtyard. Overall it did the job for one night in venice!
The property has a lovely view of the canal that can be enjoyed from the room window as well as the rooftop terrace. There are many shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance. Close to water bus and water taxi.
I was skeptical at first it’s kind of hidden. It is a hidden gem. Great staff the room was small but comfortable. It was in a great area. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in.
Walkable location from acquataxi, restaurants, and shops. All front desk staff was welcoming and helpful. Appreciated the luggage storage and view from our room.
Very good stay. The hotel is convenient for a short stay, very clean, nice staff, decent area, I would recommend anytime. Only small complaints is that we requested A/C to belowered and they did not pay attention, also I feel they should change towels ar least every other day.
The Altana, rooftop terrace, is a great way to view much of the city. On a clear day the Alps are visible as are several leaning towers called campaniles. Staff, they greet you like family.
Hotel was fine and in a great location. However we were promised a 4th floor room with a canal view/ balcony and they gave us a 1st floor room with no view. Disappointed that they didn’t reserve the right room for us and then the room we were supposed to get was already taken. Rooftop terrace was nice but could have used some shade
We didn't recieve any VIP amenity despite being included with booking. The room was very small (even for Italy), slightly slanted, and we could hear everything through paper thin walls.
It was nice being centrally located though, everything was easy to walk to.
