I loved how friendly the staff were and extremely helpful in providing tips to help my family and I chase the northern lights! We also enjoyed the breakfast options (the create your own waffle station was an amazing touch)!

I don’t do a ton of hotel reviews but we spent 2 weeks driving around Iceland. Our most expensive stay by far was in the south coast at Katla. Had to ask for TP, rooms were dirty, I didn’t think there would be many bugs in Iceland but sound them at the hotel. Had to pay extra property tax that was not disclosed. If you are going to the south coast stay in Selfoss and make it a day trip. You can do most everything without staying on the south coast.

Great cozy atmosphere. Best breakfast at a hotel by far. So much variety. The dinner was delicious and so worth the money. Very comfortable beds. Clean rooms. Only complaint was I kept tripping going in and out of the bathroom on the door frame.

Very nice hotel in Vik right off ring road. The room was small but clean and fine for the one night we stayed. The breakfast included was very good, they even offered to pack up to go or even to pack you a lunch.

It was a great stay. I do believe is expensive for what it offered. Could not use hot tub, it was under construction. Dinner was around 60 per person, not too many options. Friendly staff. Free breakfast, not too many options.

The hotel premises has multiple buildings so I am unsure if all of the rooms look identical in style/color. For instance, our walls were all black but I do not see an exact photo shown on Expedia. Nevertheless, it did look very modern, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. We had no issues with our experience while staying at Katla for 2 nights and would recommend it. We even saw the Northern Lights one of the nights! They have plenty of parking, free breakfast, and is not located too far from the main area of Vik. I saw that there was another review commenting on the shower design and having stayed at 4 different hotels while in Iceland - it just seems to be a norm.

The service was excellent, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Greta restaurant and breakfast. However, I did encounter a small issue with the shower. It would be great if there was a shower door to prevent water from spilling onto the sink area.

Fortunately, I was there for one night only. The hotel has nice rooms and the size is decent... but the walls are paper thin. I was appointed the the room next to "gathering area" where people can go chat and have drinks. I could literally follow all the conversations. The neighbor had issues with plugging a device in an outlet and it sounded like he was right beside me. I did explain that when I checked out. The receptionist apologized and said "All of our buildings are old in Iceland". Oh well...
