I was very anxious about this being a basement apartment and having the owners living above. But, the way the house is situated, you don't feel at all like you are sharing space. The basement opens to a cement lanai with a table and chairs and a view of a very wooded steep hill (us michiganders would call it a mountain) and a creek. Around back (to the side of the home) was a pool and my kids didn't bring bathing suits. The owners literally say "if you need anything, ask, we may have it." We didn't even need to ask, they came and offered a bathing suit. Inside, there seems to be so much space. There was a kitchen, bedroom, 2 bathrooms and a wide open living space. In the b living space there was a pool table and 4 couches and it didn't even feel crowded. We very much enjoyed our stay.
The only things that I noticed to watch out for... the floor from the main bathroom into the living space has a slight slant. Most people wouldn't even notice it, but me being disabled, it was something i had to be careful about. The walk to the door has a lot of uneven ground and roots. So, its not a place that is handicapped accessible. The driveway is steep and a very tricky turn around. We ended up smashing the front end of our vehicle on the rocks.
If you have kids attending the University, the location is amazing!! It is only .2 miles from our daughters dorm. We couldn't believe it!
