My wife and I came for our Luna de miel. The waiters and house keepers were all very friendly and kind. The pool was amazing in colonial and the food from the buffet was beautiful and exquisite.

Lots of options for entertainment and food! Plenty of pools to explore and activities to do. The beach is gorgeous, and we even saw plenty of sea life close to the shore - fish and sea turtles! The staff are all extremely helpful and everyone speaks English as well as Spanish. Food is good at the buffets and the restaurants. Very family friendly.

Our honeymoon experience fell short here, but we tried to make the best of it. People came into our rooms while we were sleeping, unannounced, no knock. We had a safety issue with our room and had to move quickly to another. They couldn’t accommodate our allergies at the buffet and we were insulted and harassed by Ricardo at Tropical for not speaking Spanish our eating food I was allergic to! Our ‘inclusive’ did not feel inclusive at all. I experienced cross contamination with my nut allergy and they only offered the same food as an apology. The food fell short and we were hungry at times, and eventually gave up when staff was rude to us when we asked questions for recommendations. This was our first time, and may be our last. And to top it all off, we still paid for the fees of the restaurants where they could not accommodate us the best. The waiters provided good service, but at the point, it was only so much they could do. Our vacation was ruined.

Resort was amazing. So much to do on site that we didnt need to leave the resort. Staff were all so nice and very polite. Took 1 trip to Playa Del Carmen for more shopping, that was the only time we felt unsafe. Did an excursion for zipline, atv and cenote and that was soper fun also.

This resort is undoubtedly one of the finest in all of the Mayan Riviera, Mexico. The management is exceptionally professional, going above and beyond to ensure that we felt completely at home throughout our stay. Their attention to detail and willingness to assist was truly remarkable. The staff are equally impressive—kind, helpful, and genuinely wonderful people. The resort itself is immaculately clean, offering a wide range of dining options with excellent quality food. It boasts multiple pools, swim-up bars, and a fantastic selection of water slides and playgrounds for children, along with a dedicated kids' play area. One of the unique aspects of this resort is its connection to several sister resorts, allowing guests to explore and enjoy a variety of experiences within a single stay. In my opinion, once you experience Barceló, no other resort compares. It truly is a five-star destination, perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers, offering everything you need and more for an unforgettable vacation.

We were a group of 10 people and always had to be split up on tables. At one point, the manager girl at the Mariachi grill was very rude when we sat down at a table for 6 people because we had 5 with a highchair and needed some extra space. She stated that it was not possible to use that table and made us move with an infant. Barcelo management please do better. Your guests are on vacation.

I have been 2x in colonial, our family loves beach, beautiful sand, snorkeling with fish, huge pools and not being crowded, only pool with bar is usually crowded. It’s nice, beautiful and clean to walk around. Unlike staff is not friendly, pool bar you have to wait for long to get a drink. They don’t pay attention to you. Don’t smile at all. No entertainment in the evenings. Only theater at 9pm that’s all. If you like beach and pool, spending time in water yes it’s for you. Food is so so. Repeatable. No seafood. A la Carte’s are good. You tip them or not they don’t appreciate. We tip them at pool to get drinks but wait still so long. You wave or not they don’t pay attention. If you don’t pay attention for that you will love the resort, beach and enjoy pools.

Nice hotel, good food and very clean amenities. The only thing that would stop me from going back is the lack of activities. Animation was mediocre. From previous experiences at other resorts, the crew engage the guests more in activities and events throughout the day. It would have been nice to have a dj after the show at night for people to stick around and enjoy the rest of the evening. The music at the Jaguar club is not for everyone. I would alao recommend some activities for teenagers.

Barceló Colonial is part of the 3 properties in the Barceló Resort group. The staff is very friendly and service is outstanding. The activities around the pool and at the fitness center are engaging and so much fun! The entertainment at night is good and the food at the buffet restaurants is decent with many options for all tastes, including menus for kids, and with vegetarian options. However, the cleanliness of the rooms is somewhat substandard. As soon as I arrived I asked to be changed to another room because the bathroom tub and mirrors were dirty. The hotel staff right away took care of the issue and I was moved within minutes to a much cleaner room. They even made accommodations for a sleeper-sofa for my younger kid, so everyone could have their own bed. During my stay, the room was cleaned daily, however, soap and towels were not refreshed daily, unless you asked. There's so much to do! From the pools, to the beach, aquatic activities such jet-ski, snorkeling, etc, to escape rooms and go-karts, to discotheque and bowling... the options are many! One thing you can't miss is the dolphins' show. All in all, great experience! Worth the money.
