We have stayed at The Lighthorseman numerous times and always had a pleasant stay. The manager is very friendly and obliging and its an easy walk into the city centre. Very good value. See you next time.

A little noise from the bar area
A reasonable stay. Room was clean and tidy, dated in some ways but freshly decorated in other ways. Noise from the bar below and other guests could be a bit annoying.

Lovely Inn in York for short stay
Good location. Accomodation was about a 10min walk into the centre. Our room was at front of the Inn on a main road, at night you could hear some traffic. Parking available which was a bonus. Room was basic, but clean, fine for a short stay. Windows old, but the Inn is old, so expected, but could do with an external clean. Bed was a double, comfortable. Bar area was nice. We paid for breakfast during our stay, it was lovely. Inn was actually bigger than we thought it would be. There was also an external seated garden area, a games room with pool table and darts. All in all had a lovely stay.

York Visit
Hotel was a 10 minute walk away from town. The pub itself looked to be a sports bar. We didn't hear alot of noise from the pub itself. The room was clean, warm and comfortable. The shower was either really hot or really cold so ended up having a bath instead but I could of been using it incorrectly. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely staff here again when visiting York again.

The Lighthorseman is perfectly located to walk into York City Centre, the room was clean and comfortable and the owner and staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Due to being older and listed building, there were few creaks and some noise in hallway. Would have appreciated room being cleaned over the time we were there. Only 1 bin in room emptied. Bathroom bin and towels not changed. This was only negative part of stay.

I appreciate the age and fabric of the building, the room was small, not quite, because of the road, unavoidable I know. Some small issues were as follows, broken shades on the bedside lamps, no lock on the en-suite door and cobwebs around the ceiling. Unfortunate booking error for breakfast, which we didn’t have in the end and parking for residents caused an issue on one day.

Over all very good. High marks for hospitality, cleanliness and value. Decor showing wear, thread bare carpets, door hardware, light fixtures etc. does not detract from the charm. Would definitely stay again.
