Our stay at Hotel Alpina would have been great if the sound insulation in the rooms was better. We heard every single sound of the room above us and unfortunately they did not go to bed until the early hours of the morning which meant even with ear plugs we could not sleep. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for longer than a night unless you can sleep through a lot of noise. Everything else was great. 😊 Pros: comfy beds, nice shower, great location, amazing views, nice staff. Cons: high likelihood of not getting a good nights sleep. No facilities provided to make hot drinks.

Quiet!
Quiet area. Rooms are quite small, but that's expected in an older European hotel. Had a nice powerful shower stay! You check in at a neighboring hotel and walk a few meters to the Alpina. There is a nice large lounge area where you can also sure your luggage if needed. We had a small chain to keep ours secured, but I don't think it was necessary. I would stay here again.

The heat temperature is too high and no fan can circular the air, also wood floor made a lot of noise! Ask the room service twice for hair dryer, she said yes but I did not get it ,two nights with wet hair slept!

Nice stay for a couple of nights we were there not for snow/skying just to look around go up mountain to see Matterhorn .. room was good staff were friendly and it had a nice big common room to chill out full of books of local history which I found pretty cool

Solo 72 yr old traveler. The room matched the description, hence the 4 star rating. Think of a college dorm room with private bath and single bed and small shower. There is a lift, but I had to walk up a short staircase after exiting the lift to get to my room. The breakfast buffet was disappointing, but adequate. For the price, you can do better with a 5 minute walk to the main street. Hotel is a ten minute walk from the train station. General comment about Zermatt for first time visitors. Everything is within walking distance. For the hotels on the outer extremities, there are electric shuttles (no internal combustion engines), electric taxis or a bus that can get crowded. Weather varies a lot. If you get a sunny or partly sunny day, take the trip to the Matterhorn glacier palace and then the train to Gornegrat. Both are discounted with an activated Swiss Travel Pass. You can do both in a day. There is not much else to do until ski season. I spent 5 days figuring it would be overcast for 3 days. I was right. For those rainy or cloudy days, it can be dull. Of course, if you are lucky with the weather, you can cover all the bases in two days.

Great hotel and centrally located
The hotel was located near many restaurants and shops but tucked away so it wasn't too loud at night. The room was quite clean and we loved the closet with extra hangers. There was a heater that we only used on our last night. Though no fault of the hotel, the guests on the floor above us was quite loud and walking around loudly in the evening or very early in the morning before 7am with what sounded like boots on and luggage scrapping across the floor. We did run out of the shampoo in the shower and it was never refilled. We made do with the hand soap. The receptioniat was very nice and made good recommendation to a restaurant nearby.

Great location, perfect room with a comfy bed. Additional pillows would have been better. Check in and bag storage at the neighbouring hotel was super easy too. Only complaint was the sound proofing from other rooms and halways was minimal.
