Hotel Allegra is in Kloten, about a half hour outside the city. A metro station is a 5 minute walk which we found very convenient. Restaurants were not within easy reach. We bought a daily train pass to go to meeting places in the city for tours we booked. The hotel has an older section and a new one. Our family of 4 occupied a quadruple room in the older section. The room was clean and not cramped but lighting was poor and there were not enough electrical outlets for us to use to recharge our phones and tablets. Beddings and the bathroom were clean. The hotel staff were friendly though a couple were not too helpful. Overall our stay at the hotel was okay. In retrospect we should have booked a hotel in the city which would have made it easier and faster for us to get to sights and eating places during our short 3-night stay.

Front desk staff was very friendly helpful and informative. Besides the sound of the train (station directly behind our hotel) it was peaceful and quiet. Rooms were very clean as well as the hotel itself. Only complaint is that we were told we has no free breakfast when infact our reservation said one free breakfast per day but i didnt notice that until we checked out

I was skeptical at first, but this was one of the best choices I made on my trip to Switzerland. The room was small, but plenty comfortable for my one day stay. The room was priced very well, maybe I got lucky with a last minute deal to sell rooms? I would prefer to have guest operated laundry available instead of sending out my clothes for a quick wash. Maybe that's a cultural difference in Swiss hotels, almost all offer laundry service but no guest operated machines. At checkin, I was informed that I was one hour early and that they were not charging me an early checkin fee. That was nice, but the way the message was delivered was as though they were doing me a favor. I get it, but the hotel had no reasonable use for the room at that point in the day. It could have been a language issue as well, since I assume the front desk clerk's native language is not English. The shower is small in the room I stayed, and one of the doors was missing. The hotel had a shower curtain installed to contain the water, but the curtain was not installed very well. I think the shower pan was also installed incorrectly since there were some soft spots in it. That could be hazardous for some folks as the shower pan itself felt a little slippery. Overall, I highly recommend the hotel for a stay in the Zurich area.
