We stayed here the second week of July 2022. Pictures do not do this quaint slice of heaven justice. While there are other homes close by, the cabin is tucked in with landscaping. We didn’t hear a peep the entire time, nor did we see anyone. It felt like our own secluded place. Coffee in the morning on the deck, fishing, kayaking, and swimming galore! Resident loon was lovely as well.
Everything was clean, and having a starter case of water was a great touch. There is a Hannaford nearby where we purchased our food for the week. The decor inside the cabin was wonderful; rustic fish and Maine themed knick knacks, books, games, comfy blankets and pillows, as well as an equipped kitchen. I loved drinking my coffee from the large loon mug each morning! Everything was as described in the listing.
The firepit outside is beautiful. At night there are also little white lights in the trees that create a calming ambience. We had a fire twice and made ‘smores. While the wooden benches and chairs by the fire are aesthetically pleasing, they are not very comfortable; I would suggest bringing camp chairs. There are not Adirondack chairs as pictured in the listing to move from the deck to the firepit area.
There are two trash barrels outside for recyclables and regular trash. You don’t have to worry about taking it with you!
The only negative I would mention (and was also mentioned in another review) is that the mattress in the master bedroom needs to be replaced. The topper helped a little, but for two people, the mattress was very uncomfortable. Luckily vacation lends itself to naps on the large hammock!
We would definitely stay again. It was refreshing to not pack as if I were going camping; everything here is provided for you! I frequently look back on the pictures of our stay and the relaxing time we spent on Barker Pond.
