My family of 4 plus our dog stayed here for 7 nights to explore the Acadia area and nearby coastline. It was the perfect place for us and we loved staying here. They even provided dog dishes and a large bin of doggy tennis balls!
Pros:
- Location is perfect for exploring multiple areas - reasonably close to Mt Desert Island and the Schoodic Peninsula, and a great place to start a drive up the coast
- Nice neighborhood for walking/biking, with access to the shoreline near Carter's Beach (however, beware of LOTS of vehicle traffic near the wharf if you have small children or pets)
- Very spacious and lots of light during the day
- Lots of soft seating in the living area (and seating in general)
- Very well-stocked kitchen - we cooked 2 dinners and all breakfasts there, and had plenty of pans, dishes, utensils, etc.
- Ample towels
- Beautiful view from the front porch, and greenery all around the rest of the house
- Though there is no A/C, there are so many windows and a nice breeze from the water, that we were comfortable even on very hot days
- The basket of maps, brochures, restaurant recommendations, grocery store info, etc. was very much appreciated!
Cons:
- Very busy wharf area - lots of cars, people, and noise all hours of the day (from fishermen at 4am to partiers at midnight)
- The water has extremely high mineral content - there is a definite smell and color to it, so I'd definitely bring drinking water if that bothers you (though the filtered water from the fridge dispenser was fine)
Overall, I highly recommend this place and we'd definitely book here again if we come back to the area!
