I've stayed with Jackie and Jonathon (and dogs Elsa and Saffron) in their wonderful cozy and comfortable "Rock Cottage" before, and my planning for another trip to West Cork was predicated on finding an available period to stay with them once again in the cottage.
I’ve worked and stayed in 69 countries and 50 US states besides Ireland, and I always come back to County Kerry and County Cork for the beauty, tranquility, and wonderful people as exemplified by Jackie and Jonathon.
The property is a completely and lovingly refurbished 1826 Georgian hunting lodge where the former courtyard garden stone outbuildings have been preserved on the outside but very well updated on the inside with a full modern kitchen not a galley kitchen, large modern bathroom with lots of hot water, and cozy and comfortable living spaces. Recycling is well setup and encouraged, and there is even an electrical charging facility for EV cars.
The extensive grounds are flower filled and immaculate with horses, donkeys, chickens and geese (and the occasional neighborhood sheep eating Jackie’s flowers). I loved spoiling the donkey and the horses with fresh carrots in the mornings.
Driving up the long country lane driveway you feel yourself relaxing, and then the blond sisters Elsa and Saffron come running up to greet you and get some love and scratches, and then Jackie comes strolling over with a huge smile and greeting, and cookies, flowers and fresh eggs.
You will not go wrong staying with my friends!!
