Really pleasant stay at the Old Stone Trough, a hotel which is handily situated on the A59 Colne Road, and which overlooks open country at the rear.
The staff were unfailingly pleasant and obliging, and the dining room is clean and well kept. The food is of excellent quality, and the buffet breakfasts leave you fit to burst if you overindulge, as we did on a couple of mornings during our stay.
Our room was pleasant and of generous proportions, the bed was firm but as other reviewers have said, the accommodation is tired and in need of refurbishment. It was also a disappointment to find that the water pressure was poor and the shower barely adequate. During our stay there was a spell of unseasonably cold weather, and the lack of heating left our windows streaming with condensation in the morning.
Having said all the above, the positives far outweigh any negatives, and we would definitely stay at the Old Stone Trough again in the future. There are plenty of interesting places to visit within easy reach, and we've yet to do some of them. Most importantly of all, the room tariff for four nights' bed and breakfast was very reasonable indeed.
So to the Old Stone Trough its "till we meet again" and not "goodbye".
