Pine Island/Bokeelia is very interesting, and I am quite certain it has an interesting history.
The house itself was nice, relatively clean, and the location is perfect for those that desire privacy. Amenities were excellent compared to other rentals in this region we have stayed at. There is a dock to fish from (noseeum warning) but you need to wear the strongest deet possible, or be bitten alive. Fishing should be relatively good here, but we stayed at the wrong time ~ full moon. Tides were wonky, fish were M.I.A. and so we went elsewhere to fish.
House has everything you need, to include a hot tub, that is serviced, BONUS!
Kitchen (for the ladies that need to know) has above average utensils, but depending on how/what you cook, you may desire more. The owner even has a micro plane, go figure.
For some renters, if you have a boat to bring, hold on to your rig, because I am certain there are red/snook honey holes out there close by. My wife and I almost bought a bout just due to the location (almost).
There is a plethora of restaurants for dining, most are very casual, with a few up-scale. Kids will not be at a loss for food, and the locals are very nice for the most part. Anywhere you go there is always a grumpy individual, and unfortunately I found him. But he was the only one the entire week, a win-win in my book!.
Give this house a try, you will not be disappointed!
