Overall, the property is quite nice. Sapelo Island itself isn't much to visit in the winter time or, frankly, any time at all unless you're really into hanging out on pristine, secluded beaches. (In season, in terms of activities, I suppose fishing from the beach -- surf casting -- might be fun & productive. And birding's always available, though I wouldn't say Sapelo Island is a riot of interesting bird life.) In retrospect, my main feeling is that while the property is nice and the manager, John LaFeve, is extremely on-the-ball and responsive, the rental is not worth the price -- it's too expensive for what you "get" or need.
