I booked & paid Feb 28. Apr 5th, I messaged the host asking for the direct address to make shuttle arrangements and if we could check in early. A week goes by & no response. I read the fine print and it says I will receive the check-in information 3 days prior to check-in. Now its 3 days before check-in and I still don't have the info. I call Vrbo and she tells me I’m not considered a stranded guest until it 48 hours before my stay and I have no response from the host. SO, I call back the next day and the guy tells me I’m not considered a stranded guest until its 24 hours before my stay, check-in is at 3 pm and its 10 am. WTH! As we’re on the phone the host decides to respond. I ask for a refund, because at this point is it even a real property? This guy never answered the messages from April 5th! He tells me no and to contact the app.
Since he ended up responding- last minute- we couldn’t get or money back!
We stayed, and it is a real property, as advertised. Thank God! The location is on the beach in the Cancun Plaza, which is a building of condos. The beach was clean, and we had a beautiful view from the room. Ours (2308) had rock hard beds, no hand soap and stained (yet clean) sheets. I took a risk on this property as it only had 2 reviews when I booked for April 2023. This is definitely a one-night stay option. The hosts lack of communication and Vrbo’s dumb 24hr stranded guest policy will keep me from booking in the future.
