Overall, our visit was pretty good, though we’d stay closer in if we come back (and not spend so much on Ubers). My husband and I, along with our four kids (21, 19, 18 and 17) came for 5 days. The unit is directly under the interstate (literally), so the traffic was loud (for those not used to city noise). We had a night where some neighbors in the building most definitely did NOT observe the quiet hours. Finally at 4:30 am, I went outside to ask the party of 10-15 people to be quiet (to no avail). Another night, there was a group of hundreds (again, literally) of motorcycles that gathered outside on the street next to our building that revved their engines for a few hours (so maybe this is an area a bit outside the city that is less patrolled by police - seems it couldn’t have happened closer inside the city from what I could tell).
I know the host had no control over some things (just letting others know what the area seems like), but the one complaint I feel that could have been controlled was that the AC was set to 85 degrees when we arrived. It was HOT as we unloaded all of our luggage, which was awful. I understand saving power, but if someone is planning to check in, surely the cleaning crew could bump it to at least 75! It can’t possibly save power for us to have to run the AC non-stop for the next 8 hours just to cool it down to a reasonable temp. It was so miserably hot, we couldn’t even relax and had to leave the unit for several hours.
We used Uber for most everything bc Cermack was too long of a walk (especially in the hottest temps so far this summer). There are a couple of close restaurants but they didn’t look appealing to us, so we never tried anything close by.
We personally didn’t feel “super comfortable memory foam mattresses” but maybe that’s personal preference. There weren’t enough pillows for the 6 of us, so I’m not sure there could possibly be enough for 13. There was one room that could be used as a family room, but there were no window coverings so it stayed hot and left us feeling exposed.
The host was gracious and very responsive, and she allowed us early check in at no charge. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked, and there were lots of coffee pods and bath towels.
