The house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in Castle rock, about five minutes walk from the beach.
From the outside it looks like a traditional three bedroom bungalow but first impressions bely a cleverly extended home that sleeps 11. The bedrooms are well proportioned and comfortable on multiple levels. There's two sitting rooms, one with a wood burner, and the heart of the house is a large kitchen/dining room with a large table that invites a big meal (during our stay we actually cooked a Christmas dinner).
Castle rock is an unpretentious village with wonderful walks, a single bar/restaurant where the staff really work hard, a delightful craft shop and a couple of the most welcoming coffee shops.
We were there in winter when it was very quiet, very cold and a little wet, but I reckon it would be a great venue for a summer break. That was just what we wanted.
This was a great long weekend in a great house. Thoroughly recommended.
