We loved the property. It is super convenient to downtown and the castle and the harbor. The property provided us all the amenities expected and needed for our family. The welcome basket of goodies was so appreciated.
Our only complaint is that Mark never sent us check-in or check-out procedure or instructions so we had to call him to get the lockbox code. We were tired and it was at the end of a long travel day, so it intensified our frustration.
The only email that we received was the confirmation email after reserving the property. This property was a place we stayed a week into our trip so we expected to receive an email from Mark before our arrival, as that is how other online vacation rental companies (I. e. Airbnb) do it.
We called him and he gave us the lockbox code allowing us to get into the townhouse. Upon our departure, since we had no lockbox code (in the frenzy of our arrival, we did not write the code down and Mark had promised on the phone to follow-up with us the next day, yet we never heard from him) and no checkout procedure, we called Mark repeatedly, waiting for his instructions. We never heard from him until approx 2 hrs. after checkout He had been on a flight to Geneva, so he could not access his phone. We left him a message to indicate that we left the key under the rubbage bin outside the door of the townhouse since we did not know what to do. We had been delaying our departure for another long travel day to our next destination by trying to figure out what to do with his home key. At the end of the day, when we had WiFi again, Mark had texted stating that he was on a flight and was not available to receive our calls.
Bottom line, make sure that you receive your checkin and checkout instructions before your arrival. You may need to be more proactive in order to ensure good communication with Mark. He said that he sent these instructions by email, but there was nothing from him to us after the original email confirmation. Like I said from the beginning, the property is wonderful, clean, convenient and comfortable, AND communication could be very much improved to make one’s vacation experience free of anxiety and frustration.
