Pros: The communication with the owners was great; they responded to any inquiries in a timely and friendly manner. The cottage and surrounding community of cottages was super cute, like stepping back in time to the Cape of a previous era. All the neighbors and other renters were friendly and took the time to stop and chat when we walked by. The private beach was literally only about a 2 minute walk. We really appreciated that they allowed our dog to stay too. We were greeted upon check-in with a handwritten card welcoming us, which was a sweet personal touch.
Cons: The cottage does not have a shower in the bathroom; it only has an outdoor shower, surrounded by a fence.
Dogs are not allowed on the beach, apparently due to a town ordinance (so not the owners’ fault). No air conditioning, although there was a ceiling fan and portable fan provided. The bedrooms do not have doors, just heavy curtains separating them from the main living area, The cottage was pretty dusty, seeming like it wasn’t thoroughly cleaned between renters.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay and didn’t mind roughing it for a few nights. The friendliness of the owners, nice community, and proximity to the beach made up for any of the cons.
