Hotel with individuality and charm

I needed a break from work and wanted a comfortable hotel where I could relax, and enjoy sunshine and swimming. Hotel Sativa (aka Sativa Sanur Cottages) was a peaceful hotel in a delightfully individual style that provided this. The layout of the hotel is a number of 'cottages' set around a swimming pool, and each cottage has two upstairs rooms and two downstairs rooms. The rooms are spacious and clean, and they all have either a balcony or an enclosed private terrace which was brilliant. This hotel is in my view far preferable to the huge hotels nearby that lack character. The staff were attentive and polite and the food and drinks were lovely and very reasonably priced in comparison to what westerners would pay back home. The spa was also very welcome. The pool is not huge but it certainly was enough to cool off and splash about in which is all that was needed. The hotel was being repainted during my visit but this was well managed and not intrusive at all. Areas for improvement are the seating at the pool bar (these are a bit worn and need replacing) and the music in the bar area which was a bit loud, but which they turned down on request. Overall, I enjoyed my break and would definitely return to Hotel Sativa.
